Credit cards and linking financial history

Hi all,
I am now living with my other half (yay!) but he still doesn't know about my debts - I know I should tell him, but that's a different matter!
My question relates to linking financial history. We have no joint accounts or mortgages etc only joint names on bills, which I know does not link our financial history.
He now wants me as an additional card holder on one of his credit card accounts, so we can put all food purchases on there and then split the cost at the end of the month. This is what we do now by putting cash together, but because we don't have a joint account it's difficult to keep track of. He thinks it will be easier if we put it on the card and I agree.
I am worried that I will have to pass a credit check (which I will most certainly fail!) to be allowed as an additional card holder, and that our financial history will then be linked because we have credit together.
Would one of you kind and knowledgable people be able to confirm this for me please?
Thanks,
Soph

A secondary cardholder is not responsible for the debt and is not credit checked. So...you will not be credit checked.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thank you. Does anyone know if our financial history will be linked through an additional card holder for a credit card?
Thanks,
