To enter this competition tell us which of these residents of Hawarden is widely regarded to have been best at football;
Emma, Lady Hamilton
Michael Owen
William Gladstone, PM
We are offering one lucky winner the chance to spend a weekend in Wales with three friends. The winner will have two dinners for four (including pre dinner drinks and two bottles of wine) and Sunday lunch for four (with drinks too, if you can face them) in our new pub, The Glynne Arms in Hawarden. But that's not all, we'll also throw in lunch for four on one day at our Hawarden Estate Farm Shop, and a hamper of meat and veg to the value of £100. Our Farm Shop has won more awards than we can list here including Best Farm Shop in Wales in True Taste's awards two years running and Best Farm Shop Butcher in Britain last year. And there's more, the lucky winner will also win two double rooms for two nights -with breakfast- at Gladstone's Library in Hawarden. This is Britain's only Prime Ministerial Library and is fully residential with a library of 110 000 books, a new Islamic Reading Room, a lovely garden, over 20 recently refurbished bedrooms and a restaurant. You can find out more here but the Guardian recently wrote that Gladstone's Library 'offers a glorious escape from the pace and materialism of our modern lives'.
Hawarden is ten minutes from Chester, forty minutes from Liverpool and Manchester and within very easy striking distance of Snowdonia and Anglesey.
