I get mine from bookers Cash & carry for 89p (both semi-skim and wiseman's The One) but you need membership. Apart from that I use Lidl or Aldi for £1.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I agree,i saw a farmer the other day on tv saying they receive 14p per pint and they make a loss,i would willingly pay a bit more to keep the farming(dairy) industry going
They may be making a loss on the milk, but you have to look at the farm as a whole. They get all kinds of grants and other payments. The EU does supplement farmers' income with direct support to help them make a decent living – but in return they must meet standards on farm hygiene/food safety, animal health and welfare, biodiversity and landscape protection.
They get money for being clean, producing food safely. looking after their animals and looking after wild life.
I wish the EU would supplement my income to ensure I made a decent living.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but in Dorset the farmers spend 5 nights a week in the pub, drive huge gas guzzling tanks, and their kids all have their own horses.
I suppose the cost of all that is included in the cost of producing the milk.0 -
And what happens when it spreads to other food items? Should we really offer to pay more so that farmers can be rich again?
I was posting about MILK which is the subject of the OP.
If you want a general thread on agricultural prices and profitability on which you can post your flash remarks please feel free to go forth and multiply in short , sharp, jerky movements and start one .0 -

Market rules - and if the market deems its too expensive down it must come. I see no other market where we think we should pay more for a product.
Oh Mr Banker - i know you have had a rough ride and struggling to make a decent bonus. Please dont provide me with a decent ISA rate this year - you keep it and good health to you and your children.
And - if you want to keep the thread on track to the OP - its about where to get the cheapest milk!0 -

No, the subject was, still is the Best price for milk, not MILK in general.shammyjack wrote: »If you want a general thread on agricultural prices and profitability on which you can post your flash remarks please feel free to go forth and multiply in short , sharp, jerky movements and start one .
Hang on, wasn't it you who started on about agricultural prices and profitability so you could post your flash remarks about paying farmers more for milk?0 -
I think a lot of people don't know the difference betwen 2l and 4 pints...
Our local newsagents advertises milk at a super special price of £1, and states the volume as 2l/4pt, as if they are comparable! They sell wiseman stuff which is 2l (and have never sold 4pts)
As for price, getting 4 pints for £1 at asda is what we normally do, and use local shops (2l for £1) as an emergency backup.0 -

So was I posting about milk, and it is quite obvious from your ridiculously over the top rant that I have hit a nerve!
I suggest you calm down and go forth and milk a few cows!0 -

It's like some of the local newsagents, etc, in my area. All with hand written posters in the window matching supermarket milk prices. E.g. "2 pints for 89p" but the bottles are only 1 litre and not 2 pints. :rotfl:0 -

Guys Tesco do 4 pints of semi skimmed for a £1 it's under the 'creamfields' brand:-
Every time I go to Tesco I'm alway surprised how people seem to bypass this for the more expensive green Tesco one. I think that people assume that the 'purple label' equates to 1% variety but they're wrong keep your eyes peeled :beer:0
