Multiple Default notices

HI folks

I apologise in advance if this topic has been raised before.

Is it legal for a creditor to issue multiple Default notices to a person who is on a DMP and adhering to payments?

One of my creditors, Co-operative Bank, insists on sending out Default notices every six months or so, so in effect they have a "rolling" default notice which wont come off my credit profile until 6 years after I completely pay off their debt. I recall one or two of my other creditors have re-issued Default Notices since I started my DMP in July 2009 too.

Any thoughts / advice welcome.

A default notice is a piece of paper, they can send as many as they like. But for each debt on your credit record, a default can be registered once and only once. What is on your credit record? [Never mind your credit score, don't throw good money after bad to get that.]

Thanks for your reply. I'm in the process of obtaining my credit record so I'll let you know when I've compiled the information.

And the date of the default should never change. If it does complain

Don't confuse "notices of sums in arrears" and "notices of default sums" with an actual default notice.

A notice of sums in arrears has to be sent out every 6 months under the Consumer Credit Act 2006 changes. It's not a new default each time. Just info on what is now in arrears under the account.
