The thing that stands out for me is £112.00 a month for the Cambridge diet, this is really not neccssary to lose weight you need a healthy fresh diet and exercise.
You will be much more likely to keep the weight off in the long term as well to be honest, even if it added say £50.00 to your grocery bill every month it would still free up £60.00 towards debts and you would be healthier with it.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

cutestkids this is a diet recommended by my doctor as I have insulin issues(not diabetic) and am morbidly obese, so he wants me to stay on this and have various tests. This is the only diet that has ever worked for me and he thinks it's due to carbohydrate sensitivity. Also my blood pressure was sky high(180/118) and although I am on medication it's not reduced it below 150/95, so again I need to lose weight as quickly as possible until the blood pressure goes down as I can't have a higher dose of tablets. It's no fun not being able to eat trust me.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

I work full time, put my children into childcare and have £800 left a month. I get no benefits. We are frugal. What is wrong with that???
I'm not having a go, but your worst case scenario is my reality, and I manage...? I think that the standards that people 'expect' to have is sometimes what is wrong in the first place.:footie: Mummy to 2 boys - born 2009 and 2011 :footie:0 -
Do you have PCOS? sounds like you do by your PP.
I have this and have found metformin and a low carb diet works very well cheaper then faddy diets too.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Do you have a water meter?
And for a household of 7 is very cheap...Most people use about 1,000 litres per person per week. At £2 per cubic metre your bill plus £50 a year of standing charges your bill should be at least £15 per week. Well done for keeping your water usage low.Toomuchdebt wrote: »Yes I have a water meter.I pay 10 a week on it.
Personally I think the grocery figure is low too. Most people spend £25 per person per week. At 7 people that would be £750 per month and you spend £512 (groceries and diet plan) which is also quite good. So another well done from me too.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

No I don't have 6 kids. I'd love 6 kids, but I know that I can't afford it, so I stopped at the 2 I could 'afford' while wishing I could have had more.
We're not having a holiday this year. I don't have nice jewellery or anything like that. What I do have is a university education and I have worked (hard) for 14 years. Yet I earn less in salary than you get in benefits. I have less disposable income than you (more of a shortage than an extra 4 kids could account for).
Surely you can see why people can be annoyed at this?!?! I'm not saying you're claiming more than you're entitled to, but there are those of us who choose to work even though we're worse off as a result, and who support others through their taxes. There IS something wrong in that, so don't have a pop at me. I was simply pointing out that your disposable income after working would not be dissimilar to many other people and £45k on benefits is very very very unfair on others.:footie: Mummy to 2 boys - born 2009 and 2011 :footie:0
