It looks to me that you took the original Endowment mortgage out in 1996 over 25 years (ends 2021). Then changed to Repayment mortgage (to still end in 2021) not in 1999 but a lot later. Probably around 2008 would be my guess, so mortgage is over approx 14 years.
There again I could be wrong...

Why does my mortgage say I have 9 years and 1 month left? and approx 59,000 this is still not correct if your right surely?

Maureen,
Is the WHOLE mortgage debt on one sub account or split into two or more ie
Sub 1. £30000 9 yrs left,
Sub 2. £29000 2 yrs left?
Only examplea, but as mentioned before, the figures quoted look horrendous and I'd puke in my lap if I saw paperwork with that based on the figures you have provided.
We all really really want to help here but no figures make sense.0 -

The date ties in because you took original mortgage out in 1996 for 25 years so would end in 2021 (9 years and 1 month away).
But as for the amount you have not said how much you borrowed.

I just hate it when people don't let us know how things worked out!!!0

Ah, but I am! Michelle, some of us were at work!!
Went there today, the advisor couldn't get her head around it either. She said we owed £59,000 ish and confirmed this with head office. She rang head office and the answer she gave me was that she didn't understand what they had said! So long story short. Head office are sending our paperwork to me, I have another appt next thursday, and we have to pay the initial new payment as in her words "it could take me a few days to sort this out". I explained what insertwittyname had said about the % etc and although she said she understood what we were saying she still didnt know what head office were saying. Never get a mortgage with Cheltenham & Gloscester (Halifax now). So guys no further forward. Will keep you posted.Maureen0 -
Now Halifax!!!!!? I doubt it.
Could it be your charged on an annual basis and your mortgage was taken out pre regulation (oct 04). But then again AIR is calculated at the start of the year.
Have you had any credits to the mortgage or would they have had to have a reason to manually change any data on their back office systems?0 -
Maurreen thanks for the update - was only jokingly impatient!!
Sounds like the person you spoke to was a complete muppet!0
