Norwich (or commuting by rail): where to live?

Hello all to MSE folk living in and around Norwich. I've been offered and have accepted (subject to paperwork, etc) a job at NUCA in Norwich.
I grew up in West Norfolk, so always had more of a relationship to Cambridge than Norwich, and don't really know much about where to begin looking for a place to live.
We're interested in renting somewhere with two or three bedrooms, probably around £700 pcm max. We'd like to find something spacious - we currently live in a beautiful old Scottish tenement apartment, so moving into a really small terraced house might be a problem, and we generally find most new build apartment buildings to be too cramped.
Could any locals suggest good areas to start searching in? I'd like to be able to walk or cycle to both NUCA and the railway station. We may also be getting a car, in which case off street parking or a garage would be a real bonus.
Although we're primarily thinking of living in Norwich itself, we're also interested in commuting by train, so any of the towns and villages along the Wherry or Bittern Railway lines would be possibles.
Any suggestions for areas to definitely look at or definitely avoid would be much appreciated.
