I'm not in the highlands but am 1000ft up and all I've got is tatties which look far too big to be any good, chard and spinach. Lots of things vanished without trace and even my lilac is just coming into bloom now & the buddleia isn't out yet. Sick of gardening really!0

Ours are not doing much at the moment, keep hoping that its going to be ok! Our tomatoes have flowered but nothing as yet and our peppers have grown over the last couple of week but we are still waiting for anything to show.
Hopefully it will all come on soon, when we get the glorious sunshine!0 -
As my dad would've said " dinnae haud yer breath hen" LOL!0

Same story as everyone else. Looking around and just makes you want to cry. Massive amounts of slugs and also snails despite my midnight forays to kill off.
Most crops eaten as soon as planted. Managed to get the runners right up the canes and flowering well (planted a ridiculous number of plants for this as they kept being eaten) but not holding my breath for crops.
French beans being eaten faster than they grow. Brussels and purple sprouting either being eaten or drowned. Onions drowning in the occasional floods. Leeks flowering.
Main crops spuds plenty of green foliage. Toms and cucumbers growing well in the greenhouse. Rhubarb good, plenty of fruit on the figs. Pumpkins and butternut still alive but not much happening. Blackbirds stripped my blackcurrants for the first year, normally they just take the redcurrants. Gooseberries still ripening on the bushes, subject to escaping the notice of the birds. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Blackcurrants and strawberries have yet to show much in the way of colour and some of the strawbs are tiny this year.

Plenty of growth from the rhubarb though

We're in Lincolnshire and everything is behind. Too cold and wet, not enugh sun etc.
Things are growing -apart from one lot of french beans that in the end OH dug up, they didn't grow at all) and courgettes, potatos and tomatos are flowering but not much else. Sweetcorn is slow growing, as fast as courgettes start to fruit they seem to rot away. Carrots seem ok....so far and chillies and peppers are in the greenhouse so they're ok.
OH's given up this year hoping for a decent crop of anything but at least the flowers are doing they're best to make the rest of the garden look cheerful.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

poor performance from my stuff too (London area). Potatoes, beetroots and radishes are good but not much else doing well. have quite a few small courgettes but they seem to be damping off and one has had the green skin munched off by something.
everthing else seems to be growing at a very slow rate, apart from the weeds which are loving this weather.0 -

I tried to make the snails leave my garden faster by removing the shells, though it just made them more sluggishFreedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

Back to normal here (King's Lynn area). Light free draining soil.
Lots of top on the taters and Charlotte (early) good crop. Carrots growing well from a second sowing. Runners good, toms good. Turnips and swedes Ok. Leeks will soon need to be planted out from own sowing. Parsnips look healthy but something wrong, maybe going to seed. Radio 4 Farming today said carrot harvesting has started, 10-15% down.
p.s. no vics no apples some early plums that are protected from the east and pears ok.0 -
I planted early potatoes in containers, flower buckets and some in the ground. Most of them look ok but the two flower bucket ones had broken foliage and just collapsed yesterday. (No foliage on top at all now and never had any flowers) Will it be ok to empty them and eat whatever potatoes are there? I read somewhere that they could be poisonous?....
