Possible CCJ Problem

Get yourselves a comfy chair & cup of coffee, a bit involved but I wanted to give all the details:
From 1999 I was a co-director of a small 'limited' company in the construction sector, I handled operational matters, my co-director and the company secretary handled the finances etc. When I detected unresolved financial problems in the company I had no ethical alternative but to resign on 18 September 2006. From Companies House I see that the company is now in liquidation with the 'petition' date on 25 October 2006 and the 'order to wind up' on 9th January 2007.
I have received a 'Threat of Enforcement' Letter from a tool hire firm that the company used. Apparently they have a CCJ against me personally albeit at my former wife's address where I haven't lived for about twelve years (Nottingham County Court on 26 February 2007) for £2393.01! The hire company sent the letter on 13th March and I received it via my ex wife yesterday (20th March), she kindly redirected it to me at home, she had not forwarded any previous correspondence.
What do I do now? I suppose I could act dumb and see what happens or say I've not received the letter but they demand the money by 26 March or they'll register the CCJ against me which will last for 6 years which I can do without as I haven't worked for 6 months!
Thanks in anticipation.

I'm not very clued up but surely if you resigned before the company went into liquidation you shouldn't be liable for the debts?? Hopefully someone who knows more about it will be along soon.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.

You can go to CAB immediatly, and ask them what the options are. Given the company sent the CCJ notice to an address that can NOT have been your last known address, I would think the CCJ would be overturned on appeal.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
