Car Finance - Can I get out?
OK, I hope this is in the right area of the board, big apologies if not.
I need some advice, I have just got a second hand Mini One 1.4 Graphite on finance, I did have a Fiat 500 on finance and they have settled the finance by way of me paying 500 pounds (I can't find the pound sign on my keyboard, sorry) and them settling the other 500 (there was 1,000 negative equity) so I have part-ex'd it.
Originally I was supposed to get the car on Monday but after driving the 30miles and paying toll charge to get there they said the car needed something doing to it - which the salesman didn't know specifically - and it needed taxing. I ended up not driving home in it, lots of phonecalls the next morning to try and find out what it was, turned out something minor with the brakes and all is fine with it. Well, from that moment on I had second thoughts about it.
I have since picked it up and now have it after signing the goddamn paperwork. I have changed my mind and want my old car back. I have phoned BMW finance they say I can withdraw from the aggreement but would need to pay the loan back :-( I realise I have made a massive mistake and want my little Fiat back :-( This has kept me awake all night and I'm meant to be sleeping today as I start nights tonight :-(
I phoned the dealership and the man they need to discuss it with isn't in until Monday, they are obviously !!!!ed off with me. I will be paying more for this damn Mini a month than I did with the Fiat.
Do I have any rights? I realise I will probably lose my 500 pound deposit :-(
Please, any advice is greatly appreciated, and I know I'm a fool and stupid.
Thank you for reading,
Laura

I can't quite understand...you think you can sell your car, then a few days later demand it back?0

Car Finance - Can I get out?
Yes, mosy cars these days come equipped with doors....you'll find a small handle device which you can "pull" somewhere on the inside. This will then release a latch and the door will open (or maybe not by the sound of that car)
Sorry...couldn't resist"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
And yeah, you will pay more for a Mini than a Fiat.
And no, you have no rights. You can withdraw from the agreement upon repayment as BMW have pointed out. I presume you don't have the cash to settle with them.
Either way, your not getting your Fiat back.
My favourite saying is "Actions have consequences"
You'll learn that.0 -
You'll probably be able to get out the finance agreement but you have contracted to buy the vehicle.
I'd guess that if you want to sell the mini back to them they are going to offer you a lot less than you paid for it - so you'll end up having to find some money to pay back the shortfall.
If they haven't yet put your car into auction / sold it on then they may consider selling it back to you - but probably at a higher figure than the part-ex value. So you'd have to find the money to do that as well, or try to obtain a loan from somewhere.
At a guess it will cost you a lot to get yourself back to where you were in the first place.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Why on earth did you not think about it.
It stands to reason you would be paying more for a mini than a 500.
Blimey OP you get around quick, OP has posted 3 threads in 6 minutes, thread 1, thread 2, then this thread.

OK, thanks everyone, I know this sounds utterly stupid - because it is. I'm just kicking myself now. Thank you again, much appreciated. I doubt this bloke on monday will have much to say.0

Those little Fiats are wayyy cooler than Minis anyway...even my good lady likes those little cars.
Minis are ten a penny...even my daughter no longer lusts after one."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
I know
Thanks again, lesson learnt the hard way.0 -
Why have you changed your mind? There's nothing wrong with the Fiat, but the Mini is a much better car in every way, imho.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

FIAT =fix it again tomorrow. Mini, over priced bmwDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
