Free contact lenses Eye test!!

Hi, does anyone know of any offeres to have a free contact lenses eye test, without having to buy the lenses from that place, if not how much does it cost if not free? thanks!!

well maybe that willb useful to others too... Next week (so I have beentold) D&A will be doing a free contact lens eye test if u buy theirs contact lenses. You have to do it buy DD, but can cancel it after 3 months or suspend it. it is an ok offer when you also consider buying your glasses at the same time as any glasses you want you get half price!!so will probably work 4 me...
in comparison - Boots charge 25£ 4 the test but if you buy lenses there its free too and can cancell DD aswell but you may as well get it and 4 first 3 months (some lenses cost £18/3months and better ones eg Acuvue - apparently 30£/month and you get all your tests free and subscription, so worth considering....

An eye test (sight test) and a contact lens assessment are two completely different things.

You can have - an eye test (nothing to do with contact lenses)
OR a contact lens assessment (to check suitability for contact lenses and to test out which type/fit suits best)
OR a contact lens check (which is for people who already wear contact lenses to give them an annual check up on the health of front surface of the eye and the fit of their lenses)

Which is it you are after? You may need the eye test and the CL assessment if you have not had a recent eye test and don't currently wear contact lenses but want to try.

ok i probably should have been more specific - I already wear lenses, and know what I can and can not have, but I need a perscribtion 2 buy lenses online, 4 which i need a contact lens check up - which costs 27.50 or £25. I have just had glasses eye test 4 free at D&A,but the one 4 contact lenses doesnt seem to be free, unless u buy lenses from them, so i ve descriebed some offeres i have been given,... thats it

Contact lens checks used to quite often be free as customers covered the cost of them indirectly when buying the Contact Lenses in the same place.

Now customers sometimes want to buy their lenses elsewhere there is a realistic charge for the contact lens opticians time for the cost of this. Some packages include the cost of a contact lens check so if you bought your last set of lenses relatively recently from your opticians it may be worth finding out if that includes the cost of a contact lens check. I doubt you will find a free contact lens check otherwise as I can't see why anyone would give you for free half hour of their time & expertise to then go and take your custom somewhere else! I may be wrong tho!!

Most places (including Boots) will give you a free contact lens checks if you go on their direct debit scheme. That's one of the reasons lenses are cheaper online as they don't provide any aftercare which where eyes are concerned is absolutely essential surely? Once you factor in the cost of aftercare then its usually cheaper to go onto a direct debit scheme with the opticians than buy lenses online and pay separately for aftercare.
