I received a letter this morning stating that I owed money to shop direct group from Oct 2007 and apparently nothing has ever been paid off it since opened. The letter states that Phoenix recoveries has sold the debt to arrow global?! Anyway after a sticky break up with my ex husband he kitted his new house out with my catalogue and I'm thinking the £357.87 their claiming I owe has a lot to do with that as I know I have never had a additions catalogue! I'm not sure what to do now though, I can't afford to pay it back so I'm reluctant to ring them as I haven't heard off them before now as far as I can remember. What do you think I should do, I've never had a letter like this before so don't know how I should play it??
Also shouldn't it show on my credit report if I have a debt outstanding that long ago? I checked it a month ago and I'm all clean.

1st thing - prove it letter --> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2607247
If you've only just got this letter, then I would check your credit reports again. If they've only just linked the account to you, hence the letter, then it may be there now. Old defaults can be appear on your report once linked to your details, so could have happened since you checked.
Or the debt could have been defaulted prior to 2007, and not be recordable on credit reports any more.
Either way, would be wise to keep an eye on them in the next few months, as Arrow Global have a bad habit of putting recent defaults on people's file for old and/or disputed debts without warning.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
