have to be debt free to go back in the armed forces

Hi guys I've read some of your forums and I must say the support on here is amazing and it's something I need really, in my time of need.

Anyway, my reason for being on the forum is to become debt free like everyoke wishes to be. Anyway I have goal and the goal is to be debt free so I can rejoin the forces I miss military life and need to be debt free before I go back in.

I have roughly 13k debt ranging from several pay day loans a 1.3k overdraft and a ccj which is roughly 4.5k (I've reduced it from 8)

My monthly salary is 600-700 as I work casual hours so no holiday pay or sick pay and paid by the hour.

My expenditure is 200 rent for dad 100 travel costs 25 mobile phone and 100 ccj.

What are my options?

All advice is greatly received no matter how harsh

Hi, good to see you're hoping to tackle your debts and what a great aim! Can I just ask why you need to be debt free - is this something they're saying or a goal you're setting yourself?

I know you've given some figures above, but it would really help if you could complete an accurate SOA so everyone can get a fuller picture before they offer advice. There's a link to the template in the sticky 'newbie' thread at the top of this board.

If you're thinking of going with a debt management company, then please contact one of the charities, such as CCCS which are able to do (for free) exactly the same as what the fee paying companies will do.

Well the armed forces would class you as a threat to be bribed, and if found with mass of debt you can get discharged for it, admin discharge they call it. So this is why I need to clear it all.

Ye I'll do that, once I get some sleep :/

Thanks for the point in the right direction in getting some advice on the forums

    Hi there.

Isn't that you have to re-enlist within 3 years so you don't have to do your 'basic' again and you get to keep your rank? Therefore you've got a time limit to get yourself completely debt free. You may want to talk to the nearest RAO to see exactly where you stand on this, or perhaps - have you considered the TA?*

    *One Army etc... zzzzzzzzz

If you 'STAB-on' then (as ex-reg, and if you're within the time limits) you may be allowed to skip basic. You could also re-cap badge to something more groovy... There's the added benefit of earning at the same time and of course the bounty...

You need to talk to your nearest recruiting office or drop into your local TAC, but I have a feeling that you need to talk to someone in the AGC for proper legit advice. You may have already have done so and been given this advice, so if that's the case....

.... borrow money off Dad and repay all debts. Sign-up and pay him back via your wages (Pay-b*tches can sort that for you easily).

    All the best

Talk to an army careers office. You could phone up without giving your name.

For security clearance you have to answer a financial questionnaire as part of the process. Is yours still valid? Google DVA security clearance and there you can see the latet forms.

I think you have to be close to/bankrupt to be denied. Just be honest.
