Default on closed accounts affecting mortgage app

Options
Hi,
I have defaulted in the last year 3 times on 2 credit cards, 1 card is now clear and the account closed and the other has £150 on and will be cleared and the account closed this month!
I am looking to get a mortgage of 40k with a 4.5k deposit, I have not defaulted on anything else such as phone contract car finance.
Will these defaults affect my application or will lenders take a less negative approach to them as the accounts are clear and closed and the accounts which are open have never been defaulted on??
Thanks

The defaults will affect your mortgage application. If you've struggled to pay your credit cards bills on time, even just the minimum payment. Why should a lender believe that you will make payments on time for 25 years ?

The harsh reality is that many people never default at all. So are considered a better risk when it comes to whose mortgage application is successful.
