i often take homemade soups to work with me, in a thin stainless steel flask that was quite expensive.
sometimes it tastes like the soup has started going off in the flask by the time i come to eat it.
it happens with lots of different soups, mainly cauliflower but also carrot
i wash the flask out as soon as i get home with boiling water and leave the pourer bit to soak overnight.
i made the soup the night before, cool, refrigerate and microwave in the mornings.
the only thing i can think of is that it's in the flask for too long... i heat it and put it in there at approx. 6.30am and eat it at 1.
my partner says his taste fine though (he microwaves his at 8.30am), he has a different flask.
am i doing something wrong?? or do i need a new flask? this one isn't old...
also... whats the recommended way to clean flasks and get the smell out? i dont have any special gadgets. maybe soda crystals?

Do you have a microwave at work? If so you could take the soup straight from the fridge and heat it up at work. That is what I do, in a cheap plastic food flask that cost about £2.50 from the supermarket. It always tastes fine.0

thanks for your reply
we do have a microwave but there's roughly 200 people and only 1 microwave! and it's a long walk to it.
i just found it easier to bring a flask.
perhaps i'll have to brave the crowds instead!0 -
Only time my flask made soup unpleasant was when I'd put coffee in it!
I use a bottle brush and washing up liquid. And soak it in a borax solution about once a week...Debt, debt, debt:

I bought an excellent flask from Wilkos the other day for my little boy; admittedly it only holds .3 litres but I do think they had bigger ones; it was a Stanley Food Warmer and cost 3.99; it kept his food tasty and warm until lunchtime. I have had some right dodgy flasks in the past ... the best one I got was a free one from the RAC!That's Numberwang!0
