cavity wall insulation are they desperate for the money now?

I've been wanting cavity wall insulation but it could never be done because they would need to use scaffolding to get on top of my garage roof to drill holes.

No one was prepared to pay extra so it was never done.

I kept getting people knocking at the door asking if I wanted cavity wall insulation and I always said yes, then when the surveyer arrived, he always said we need scaffolding but no one will pay for it.

I was willing to let them just do the front and back walls (I live in a semi) but they needed to insulate a certain % to get the grant money.

Yesterday I got a caller at the door and of course I said yes, I wanted cavity wall insulation but you won't do it.

Why, he asked, and I told him, but he now says they can install it just using ladders, so it is getting done.

Big change, for 5 years they needed scaffolding, now they are going to do it just using a ladder, this I got to see.

I'm going over the paperwork with a fine tooth comb.

They must be getting desperate for the grant money if they can do it without scaffolding all of a sudden.

The funders of these energy efficiency schemes such as 'warm front' which subsides domestic insulation upgrade are the energy producers,
they are using it ,in a kind of way, to off set the polution they create in the production of thier product , energy.
(though they'll be getting this lost profit back from us thier customers via levys to our bills)
they've targets to reach ( i think by october) otherwise they will face large fines. This is why they're pushing it currently. In some cases they'll even pay you to have it
So in truth, you're paying for it , so you might as well have it :)
