had a loan for a kitchen in 1996 with First National Bank plc, ended up with county court judgement, then the account was passed to Asset Link capital. Not had any statements in years, just kept getting warrants every now and then which we paid. We moved house last year after a repossession and informed them and the court of our new address. Asset Link phoned the other day and said they had to trace us because they did'nt no where we lived now, even though we have letters from them at our current address. The original loan was for £4676.51 including £571.51 PPI over 120 months in 1996, their letter says we still owe them £4059.81, the judgement balance is £2043.88. What is going on, they even said when they phoned that we should try to lend the money from somewhere to pay them !!!!! cheek, yeah lets get more debt NOT.
Can anyone please tell me if this seems a bit dodgy.

Why not ask them to explain the outstanding balance? After all they have the history in front of them.

There's absolutely no suggestion in any way or form that this is the case, so lets not look to create a non-existent problem to add one more claim to the bandwagon ye

Had you responded to any of the letters from asset link to your current address? If not the that might be why they said they've had to trace you.

You haven't said whether you have paid anything towards the debt since the CCJ was granted.

Do you have a copy of the CCJ? if so it will show whether or not they are allowed to continue to add interest to the judgement balance.

  • We had responded to the letters, made payments since the ccj, had a look at the court order and it says nothing about interest.
I also looked at the original contract APR is 25.7%, and were told that we needed the PPI. Also on the contract there is no agreement number and was'nt signed by them, don't no if that is relevent or not.
