hi people
its my first post and so sorry if its in the wrong section.
People i am really stuck and not sure what to do.
i am currently in IVA with debt of about 28k. i have to pay 400 per month. i have been paying for 13 months no problem.
I was left in debt with credit cards and loans from divorce, this year i received paper work for divorce and my x requested i pay 13k i owe her, to make it easy my parents paid her off and agreed i pay them 300 per month. over the next 40 months. starting in aug
I have been unwell for a very long time and off work however i still get paid i am registered disable with my health now.
once i add it all up i can't simply pay the 400 pounds to iva and they don't really listen they said to apply for break, to be honest i have cancelled my direct debit for this month. i am so stuck the thought of its makes ill. can someone please just point me in the right direction.
i don't own a house, i have no assets.
thank u

Hi
Sorry I don't know much about IVAs but hopefully bumping this post will allow someone else to help you.
There is also an IVA board here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=159
These people may be able to offer some advice.
Good luck!0 -
You say you are still being paid or have I misunderstood? or are you just getting sick pay.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

i get paid cause i had some sort of payment protection at work.0 -
If you have been paying IVA with no problem what has changed if you are still being paid? or is it that you really couldnt afford it in the first place?
Perhaps if you post an SOA (your income & expenditure) it may help others in pointing you in the right direction.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
I'm not sure why you didn't contest the money to pay to your ex?Surely with no assets and no house, that was totally unreasonable?Would your parents accept a lower repayment?I think you'd have been better off going bankrupt in your circumstances tbh, but equally I don't think stopping paying the IVA is the best course of action.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

i will call iva people in the morning and ask where i stand.
I did try to contest the money with x but being a south african case i was told i need a south african lawyer, i was told it would cost another 2-3k depending on letters and case. I just could not pay that. my parents then met and paid her and received new documents with simple divorce. now parents expect 300 per month.
i think i have to just go bankrupt and see what happens. the worry of it all does not help.
i just don't know where to turn:(0
