Hello all

Bit of a random question I have two balance transfers that got squished on to one lovely 0% card but first one is zero until October 2013 but the second I didn't get such a long time on so zero until February 2013 and put on last

My question is which order will these be paid off first?? Will it be first in first out or shorter time? I am hoping to pay it all off before Feb but just in case I want to plan ahead as if I have cleared the Oct part but not Feb part then hefty interest will follow. Have two other credits cards but thinking of canceling both as no longer needed so to avoid temptation but if unlikely and I need a switching card then will hang on to one purely to try and get a good deal near the time. Also maybe one as an emergency safety net??

Its a Barclaycard if that makes any difference.

Been interest dodging for 3 years now and the end of the monster is finally on the horizon :D

Ps-hope this is the right section I'm only ever in this bit, lol

Well I believe the one that expires first is paid first. The government did bring in a rule/law saying that the highest interest debt must be paid first, because people were being stung by spending on their balance transfer cards.

I believe this to be correct, but if anyone else knows for sure, then I'll stand corrected!

I also have 2 transfers on 0% and looking at my statement it appears that the longest transfer balance is reducing and the shortest is staying the same. I am with Virgin for this though.

  • Thanks guys/girls

Rang them today to double check and yep the shorter balance is reducing first :D nice that they have actually done things the right way round.
