Mortgage and associated reclaims.

Hi guys, sorry if this type of thread has been posted countless times before. As the title says I'm trying to find out information regarding reclaims associated with my previous mortgages and any accompanying policies.

I am in the forces and hence have never knowingly taken out any PPI for credit cards or loans etc. Over the weekend though I was involved in a few conversations saying that I should look at my mortgages.

I honestly don't know where to start with this. I know that I took out my first mortgage in 1998 with the Halifax and this was an endowment based mortgage. I don't know what other protection policies would have accompanied this. It was a 5yr fixed term which when it ran out we were advised to bin the endowments and go to repayment with Northern Rock. This transaction cost us a large fee from the adviser which we weren't aware of until completion of the transaction. After cashing in the useless endowments I tried to recalim compensation a few years later to be told I was time barred:(

After the fixed period with Northern Rock ran out in 2007 we stayed with them on the variable rate, (trying to sell up), until moving house in 2010 and switching over to The Nationwide.

I don't know what I should be looking for with regards any of this but have had it mentioned that I would more than likely have a few claims available. I definitely do not want to got through a company unless absolutely necessary and would be happy to fire off some letters or make a few phone calls to start the ball rolling if possible.

Can someone please tell me what, if anything, I can do?
