Managed to get nearly all debt on 0%!!

Hi All

Have to tell you it is possible to transfer nearly all or all of your debt onto 0% for a longish time plus the transfer fee of course.

This morning my debts were:

Halifax £3122.36 at 0% until approx December 2013
Barclaycard £2338.30 at 17.9% long term
Virgin £852.38 at 10.9% until July 2013 then at 20.8%
Barclays Loan £900 left at 9.9% until Jan 2013 when repaid in full so have left that
Family relative £3840 at 0% until paid

Now:

Halifax £3122.36 at 0% until approx December 2013
NatWest £3292.79 at 0% until Feb 2014
Barclays Loan £900 left at 9.9% until Jan 2013 when repaid in full so have left that
Family relative £3840 at 0% until paid

So have got rid of Barclaycard and Virgin - the NatWest total includes the balance transfer fee

So today have bettered my outlook already - won't pay it all off in the 0% period but will drastically reduce the debt

Good luck!

Well done. Hope you're able to transfer to further 0% when the time comes.

Thanks Denise - hopefully that will be the case - cannot really do anything about the £900 left on my loan but the monthly repayments are now virtually all capital - still an horrendous amount to owe in total and it has affected my life but light at the end of the tunnel.

Congrats on getting those debts on interest free! I've managed to get both my debts on interest free (although it's still not nice having it).

Hope this lifts the weight off your shoulder! :)

Cheers it has! OK there is the matter of the fee (about £100) but the first payment will pay that and then it is capital all the way until the deal runs out - hopefully another 0% deal then!

Yep thats the way to do it. Stay focused though and throw everything you have at the card which runs out of 0% first, then if you get another 0% transfer it will be easier to find one with enough credit limit iyswim. I find 0% transfer cards easy to be accepted but sometimes the credit limit is useless to us.

    Well done though.

Thanks - will do. Fortunately in this case they offered me a limit of £5950 which was more than enough for my needs - presume my credit score is OK
