The work programme, what is it exactly?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me abit more about the work programme.
I have an interview this evening with my job seekers advisor as they were referring me onto the work programme.
What will I be doing once on it?
Is it anything like the 'community task force'? I did this back in 2010 when I was unemployed, I got to volunteer at a rescue then got a perminant job after 3 month, but sadly after a year, my contract ended and they let me go, so here I am again back searching for work.
Im just abit worried that they will make me do some sort of work experience that I have no desire to do..
What is it all about? Will it really help me to secure a job?
Thanks

You will be doing exactly what you are doing now, looking for work and applying for jobs, the work programme are basically another person you have to justify yourself to, they can offer you support in looking for work and making applications. But in reality you'll probably get an appointment once a month to see your work broker.

You won't have to do work experience, most providers are pretty pally with employment agencies or have their own agencies they normally offer you temporary jobs. But yes they can help you get a job but not get you a job, take a read of the long running thread in this section to get a good idea what they can actually do.
  • Could you post me a link to the thread please? Iv had a quick scan through before I made a post and couldnt really find anything
