Hi there, I work full time and we have no kids, just one hungry cat!!! I have looked into other ways of earning cash, but my job is quiet stressful and tends to keep me more than busy during the working week.
In terms of cutting back, I make a pot of soup on a Sunday which normally lasts all week.
We don't have any extra tv channel's we can cancel
I do pretty much all the food shopping and have cut back to about £100 a month.
My mobile is currently on three months free, OH has just re-done his but still has bills of around £40 pcm.
Currently on budget account for the elec, which has a balance on it, so can't transfer at the moment
Up here in sunny/snowy scotland we don't have metered water
I am trying to make the house more energy efficient with curtains and things to try and cut down the heating bills, but curtains cost so much money, even from the charity shops.
We have been using freecycle to pick up other bits and pieces so we havent spent money on anything for the house in months.
I am just at the end of my tether with it and don't know what else I can do :mad:0 -
You say your bank wouldn't give you a loan because of way OH ran his account, does this mean that there are lots of charges he could claim back? (ignore me if it is not the same in Scotland regarding illegal bank charges)Credit Card Debt
2019 - £7520
2023 - £1975

He is due a huge amount of bank charges but doesn't want to start trying to claim them now because he is worried he won't be able to open an account anywhere else if they make him close it. His accounts are with RBS, so I don't know what their normal policy is.
I should perhaps add that he is also due not an inconsiderable amount of money through a botched sale (about 5k) but this has been on going for over 1.5yrs now so we can't really take that into consideration until the cheque is on the table.0 -

He should be able to open one of the accounts listed on page 2 here . It can take a while to get the bank charges back so he needs to start doing it as soon as possible.0
