HI all
I have a tendency to lurk but have come out of hiding to join in if i may.
I started to plan for something untoward (whatever that may be) however i'm sure I have a long way to go, but I look forward to learning/sharing and following the thread:D.
I bought a wind up radio/torch last winter (as well as having the standard battery variety) after too many power cuts. We have camping stoves/ open fires and the beloved eydon kettle for an emergency cuppa.
Food supplies are okay but not perfect (could survive for around 2 weeks eating well).
Cheers xMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -

We are all electric so am geared up with an ozpig for outdoor cooking plus a camping gas cooker that I can use indoors. I have candles galore and we can `camp` in a tiny room called a snug, candle power will keep us warm. I bought raclettes when lakeland had their sale and they use nightlights, so we could heat up a few things on top
We have wind up everything ie radios, lanterns and torches and a big stockcupboard that is very discretely stashed away. In my last house I mentioned this to a young ex army bloke and he said `well I know where to come then` so now I do not tell anyone, except family.
I have medications but could get worried about being short of asthma drugs for dh. Water would come from local rivers, canals and ditches and I have water filters specifically to turn the dirtiest of water into drinking quality
I have to assume, like mardatha, that there would be no notice at all
Oh money, I`ll be getting cash out over the next month, especially coins and they will be kept in the house in a safe place0 -
I have an open fire.. and things to burn.. light and heat!
Candles galore.. more light and heat
Gas hob so food not an issue

One thing i haven't thought about until today is water!!
I would be snookered if the water supply went off as don't have any stashed away and don't have a purifier
mmmmmm one to ponder i think, any suggestions as to the best option would be most welcome .

gas and all other utilities are controlled by computers and a massive cyber attack will cut off your gas. Cyber attack is highly likely to happen0 -
This is a great site for cooking gear -

Water purification tabs - Amazon
Also a ring of tealights - 9 or over - set under a grill rack will heat a kettle in around 20 minutes.0 -
Could I just say that this stuff isn't over the top drama, it isnt boy scout/army cadet stuff, it isnt Robinson Crusoe either. This is you looking after your family, whatever life throws at you. This is you taking care of your family's survival. These cooking stoves will work on the patio or back step, in all weathers and all circumstances, instant heat and hot food or tea... magic!0
