It will hold memories I'm sure, we used to go there(mum, dad and me)and it was a bit like others felt when visiting London, York etc...
And I usually came home with a record or a toy and Fenwicks Toy Dept was special. And we usually had tea and perhaps sandwiches or cakes in their cafe. Back then that was something not done very often and in hindsight probably though I never noticed money was probably tight."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Rosemary Jane I blame you!! LOL Just downloaded Kindle reader to my PC and thought I would have a look on Ama*on for free books along the lines of prepping/apocalypse etc
WELL! for your info I now have Prepper Survival, The Survivalist's Cookbook, Bug Out Bag/Prepper Survival and WI's book on preserving etc
On the fiction side I have Apocalyptic oddities (short stories), Sub Zero, Joshua and Deadlocked.
I only looked for about 5 mins and there are loads of other books especially if you are into zombies, even a guide on how to be a good zombie!
Sorry! sorry! sorry! (cower)
Have fun!

My second hand engagement ring came from a jewellers on Grey Street.
I know it's not all rosy (early years were spent in a slum area on the outskirts). But with its markets, some magnificent old buildings and atmospheric parts (in spite of the indoor shopping centre) imo Newcastle oozes history. Apparently these days it can also be quite trendy (we missed out on that bit
).
Back to prepping, Pineapple dropped the ball somewhat and is running short on some things. Bad bad Pineapple! But I didn't want to go out over Easter. A quick foray into Haworth yesterday reminded me why I hate going anywhere on bank holidays. Too many tourists on wheels who haven't a clue where they are going and too many 'once in a blue moon' motorists who haven't a clue how to drive. And flippin Morris Dancers all over the show..:rotfl:0 -
Am getting soo bloody tired of gunmetal grey skies and white hills. Somebody gimme some colour !!
Preps here are focusing on warm clothes. I think we've gone into a new Ice Age.0 -

If I was younger and had the resources, I would seriously consider moving to the southern hemisphere.
But it doesn't have to be doom - we've had one in recent history.

But governments need to acknowledge it and prepare and it will change how we live.0 -
Just a quick wee note before I actually do some work @ work
Was googling last night & came across a blog "PreparedLDSfamily" on blogspot. I actually found it quite interesting - especially the post I read where she had menus worked out for the family for a month out of stocks.
I have no idea how I came over this but I liked the thought of the menus - less haphazard buying (which I might be prone to).
Don't think work PC will let me put in a link but the blog might be worth a wee trawl.....
I'm just so happy to be able to contribute something rather than pick up on all your ideas..... Thanks folks - I really enjoy this thread....Debts 07/12/2021

Oh goodness, they're still up there? They've got a lot of dancing to do to make their way down here in time for our Folk Festival... that's our one weekend of madness per year. Crossing my fingers that it will have warmed up a bit before then...
OH back to work today after two weeks "off" rearranging the garden - again. Just trying to work out where to start, with tidying up after him & putting plants back where they're happy! Bless him for trying...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Sun is out whoop sending some warming rays to you all to thaw you out.We really have been so fortunate down here in Surrey with the weather.I don't think we'd cope with all that snow as its so rarely seen here..
Fingers crossed the weather continues to improve all round the country.
DS2 is in school today cramming for his A levels he's set to get a distinction they reckon in business
DS3 is snuggled with his Rosiedog and I need to get my butt in gear!

Well, I thought I had better try bugging-out, especially as I had not slept in a sleeping bag for over 30 years, so I put an old sleeping bag down on the carpet in the lounge! So, not really a bug-out, more of a bug-in!
Got a bit twisted up during the night and a torch would have been really handy to re-arrange the mess, so will be adding that to the bug-out bag too, even though the wind-up radio also functions as a torch - I think back-ups are always needed.
When the 4 season sleeping bag and sleeping mat arrive later this week I will give them a go and sleep in the shed for a night or two.
I am still unsure whether to get a tarp, tent or bothy bag for the bug-out bag. Once I am decided I will try sleeping out in the back garden and maybe take a trip out somewhere for a real overnight bug-out situation once the rest of the bug-out gear arrives.
Anyone here actually slept under a tarp or bothy bag?0 -
Oh my days..*does a little happy dance*
My fruit from DTBrowns has just arrived to say I'm chuffed to bits is an understatement!!
The nectarine is as tall as me with gazillions of fruit spurs and the apricot is superb covered in fruit spurs and a really sturdy tree I reckon I might even get fruits off them this year.:j:j
My lord derby cooker is nice too as big as the one I got for more than double the price woohoo and the suns still shining
Hope anyone else who ordered got as good as we have XX0
