Preparedness for when

  • I listened to the morning news today with an increasing sense of horror, we started with FRACKING in Yorkshire which has been given the go ahead despite over 4,000 objections according to the news 36 people were in favour, it was followed by an item on PIG CORNEAS being transplanted into humans in China to cure blindness and shortly after that by an item saying that GM CROPS were being reviewed with a view to their being grown in the UK as it is now found that GM is not dangerous to humanity or the environment, this followed by a pleading message from the Tunisian government saying why it's a 'safe' place now, they're eliminating terrorist cells once a week and we should all go back there for our holidays!!!

Today feels like a turning point, a pivotal day perhaps when common sense and values have been reviewed and found wanting by those powerful entities who value the money we spend and their profits over the good and health of the country, land and populace. Perhaps of all the days I have been alive today is the day when the prepping and that mindset begins to be a necessity and not an indulgence, God help us all!!!

Milasavesmoney - You can buy mutton easily here on the markets in Manchester, goat too is easily obtainable.Main stream supermarkets don't tend to sell either though, and not all butchers offer it either. As GreyQueen says the markets stock it because, in our urban area we have a diverse ethnic population who, on the whole, prefer the stronger flavours to those of lamb. Very handy for us, as we like both meats too, and butchers with market stalks are cheaper than the supermarkets.

I've seen mutton for sale at £35-40 per kilo in these parts. I suspect a trip to Manchester with a chilled coolbox or two might be in the not too distant future.

If common sense were common, the world would be a far saner place. The amazing thing isn't that these are happening, its that the news broadcast them amid the Tory party EU spats and ManU sacking a manager and whoever is the latest celebrity to stumble or miss a step.
The health of the country or planet have never been a priority among the "great and the good" since that's not what lines their coffers with gold.
Though I've never seen prepping as an indulgence, I know what you mean - though I've been wondering whether I actually want to live in a world that's continuing down this path of insanity.

Perhaps I should have said CHOICE rather than indulgence, I feel that from today onwards the need to prepare for the worse is necessary because there ARE insane practises being applied to our lives in areas that we apparently have no voice in and no one is going to give any consideration to our doubts, uncertainties and objections to their application. We just have to live with the results of what happens and presumably make the best of it that we can within whatever circumstances we are dealt.

NUATHA if you should by chance discover how to actually stop this insane world so we can all get off you will share it with the rest of us won't you? I think to a man/woman of us we'd all join you and make a sane world where people are equal and have a voice in what happens to the wonderful world they live in and on!

Hold on Mar,Karma and ivyleaf I'm breaking out the emergency chocolate :icotbaske:icotbaske:icotbaske:EasterBunleft over from after easter and the shops were selling 'em cheap.

:T:T Thanks boultdj! A stroke of genius :D In fact I did have some fruit and nut chocolate yesterday when we got home after looking after DGS after school and helping him with his homework, which was knackering  (He's preparing for the 11+. All I can say is that if it was as hard as that when I took it I don't know how I passed it! A couple of the "verbal reasoning" questions baffled both me and OH, never mind poor DGS who isn't even 10 until August)

I'd be sorely tempted to advertise it as the ultimate luxury getaway and sell tickets to all the people poisoning this planet, then slam the door on them while they're gone. (Having made sure the getaway world had some serious predators to ensure zero survival)
  • I'd authorise fracking wherever they settled, make certain that ONLY GM crops could be grown there and make them ALL take their holidays in the equivalent of North Africa, forget the predators, they'd fight so much among themselves that they'd be sure to become extinct without them!!!

I'll check prices for you next week. And check out the best markets for you - avoid Ashton under Lyne, no mutton there. Am absolutely sure we don't pay anything like that though :)

Nuatha and MrsLurcherWalker - the 'go ahead with fracking ruling' has really depressed me. Species of every kind are being added daily to the endangered lists and sometimes I truly despair about the mess that's being made of our world. It seems that the PTB and the wealthy elites are incapable of any form of empathy for, or understanding of, the whole web of life here on earth. I'd be only too happy to see THEM all leave, just as long as all of the plastic waste, and toxic chemical dumps accompany them.

Thank goodness for the garden, the allotment, animals, birds and all green growing things. I'm taking a mug of tea and going to plant mint in tubs next to the back door. It's a long way to the allotment when you forget it!

I've always been an advocate for genetic testing for politicians. With euthanasia as a humane way of dealing with what is clearly a very unpleasant condition with no cure.
  • Just wait a while and Homo Sapiens will be on that endangered list too!
