I know my own mother stopped telling me I was overweight a few years back and has been saying the weight is okay - but I'm "comparing and contrasting" with the fact that she can do elegant at her weight and, at the weight I'd got to I couldn't really.
Why can't someone be elegant when they're overweight?Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
Here's an odd one:
I keep banging my right elbow on doorframes. I never had this problem before. I'm now 51, and my poor elbow is constantly bruised. I had a sight test in December which came back okay.
Is this lack of coordination something we have to put up with as we get older?0 -
No, jko, it is really the fact that inanimate objects gang up on you to make you look stupid! I have acquired many bruises in my time due to this. One life - your life - live it!0

I also make sourdough, eat yogurt and kimchi. Never tried Kefir or kombucha though..... or sauerkraut come to that. I adore kimchi - i buy it in the asian supermarket (having had it in S. Korea) - and find it totally addictive.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I like kefir myself. One warning note - be wary of even giving a sample amount to someone who you estimate is a junk food eater. One asked me for some and, on being given it, promptly headed for the nearest loo after experiencing very quick "effects" from it.....ahem:rotfl:
I'd rather forgotten there might be a bit of initial "reaction" to it and totally underestimated how noticeable it might be for junk food eaters:cool:0 -
What is kefir?0

slightly fizzy lumpy sour milk, bit like yoghurt but the kefir carries on growing and the grains get bigger and bigger and turn into balls and you have to sieve it and then mix some of the grains in new milk. I believe there are some kefirs that grow on coconut milk? Very very good for you but I couldn`t drink it, my dh made it and liked it0

Oh going by description alone I don't think I could stomach that... backs out slowly uttering 'difficulty digesting dairy'0

"After forty a woman has to choose between losing her figure or her face. My advice is to keep your face, and stay sitting down."
Barbara Cartland
A French friend of mine used to say this, well close to it, her version was, "After forty you have to choose your face or your bum and you must always remember you can sit on your bum." In a French accent it was very funny.Sell £1500

Fuddle, I can't digest ordinary milk. But kefir, being fermented (i.e. in a sense pre-digested) is much easier on the stomach; when I have milk kefir, I have it whizzed up with banana & cinnamon similar to a milk-shake, but not as sweet. But mostly I have water-kefir, made with honey-sweetened water, a slice of lemon & a handful of raisins, which is pleasantly sparkling and rather delicious.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
