I'm realistic enough to know I'm horribly positive in most things, I must annoy the hell out of people who are cross because of the situation they are in through no fault of their own. When DD1 and I got snowed in at Berlin Airport a few years back we were airside with many, many very disgruntled and angry people who were all moaning and groaning and getting very het up with it all and I tried to keep spirits up by being very, nauseatingly cheerful and positive and some folks it worked with but a lot of them got cross with me for not being cross!!! (double cross there) all I could think was that it was a difficult enough thing to have to deal with without being furious with the airport, airlines and weather and was trying to lighten the mood. God knows all the staff were doing their best but it was totally not in their hands. A mass of cross people stuck in a small space is pretty uncomfortable and quite scary, maintaining peaceful relations is only common sense and very professional too!
There are better things to get upset about, weather and flight delays are not one of them. It is also not the fault of the check-in staff, so why have a go at them? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Give me any other bean GQ, but not the broad beans. Celery in my opinion is satans armpit hair, and broad beans are..... worse
Greenbee, I'm at a similar stage as you with gardening. In whatever time I have left over at the moment I'm yanking weeds and trimming. Turns out things weren't as bad as first thought in one garden area, you just couldn't see the plants for the weeds :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

I have a theory that the reason YV folded to the Troika's demands last week was that the ECB told him that unless he played ball, they would stop topping up the Greek cash points.
I have been thinking badly of him all week until today I saw this, and another idea occurred to me:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-02-28/greece-scrambles-end-its-bank-run-jpm-throws-wrench-says-deposit-outflows-continued-
I really can't see that Greece can accomplish much in the four months grace they have been given. Except that one thing they can probably do is empty their remaining (Euro) deposits from the Greek banks.
The banks are all bust anyway. What's the problem with making them 'more bust'?
Then they can default on the Euro loans and recapitalise the banks with printed Drachmas, safe in the knowledge that all the Greek people at least have their money out of the Bank. Those Euros in people's wallets will probably be worth several Drachmas, so will keep the economy running for the time being.

I have just realised that I would be stuffed when SHTF unless I get some reading glasses to put in the store cupboard...
I couldn't tie a fish hook, I couldn't thread a needle, I couldn't use my phone .... blind as a bat .....
I have only one pair of multifocals and if I broke these or lost them that would severely hinder me.
Now where do I get some cheapies to put in the car, in the store, in my pocket ..... DO poundland sell reading glasses? They don't have to be prescription ones for emergencies.
I wonder if you could use the lenses to light a fire? I do have a magnifying glass which works a treat.
Keep up the interesting thread everyone - a thought provoking read.

99p store, Home Bargains , both sell cheap reading glasses which are adequate for emergency use. I bought some when I had my cataracts done so that I could still read before going back to my optician for a proper eye test once both eyes had been done. I now keep a pair by the computer and a pair by my bed, as I only now need prescription reading glasses for extended periods of reading.
Savings goal £30,000 1% = £300.

Thanks - will have to investigate during the week.
It was all the talk about medicines that prompted me to think about it.
