Do Police Auctions exist ?

I've always knew about the "Police Auctions", where they apparently auction off seized, stolen, recovered goods that havn't been claimed.
A quick google search turns up a website that wants you to pay for a membership that grants you locations and times, which seems pretty fishy to me.
If they exist why arn't they the talk of the town just now ? Who wouldn't want an Xbox or TV for 90% of the price, and word would have got around.
Does anyone know of there existance, and if so where can you get ligit informantion.
Thanks.

You might try checking with local auction houses - ours (in Bedford) is a privately owned business but handles auction goods for the police, the official receiver (goods auctioned as part of bankruptcy and commercial receivership), and sells off items that have been used for testing by Which? I'm sure if any of your local auctioneers do this it'll be easy to find out for free...If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...0

This is an online police auction site, but to be honest things don't go for very cheap prices. In the West Midlands there is a local auction house that handles police auctions. They do exist, but not sure how much of a bargain you will get.0 -
Check your local police website or twitter feed. My local police force advertise on their website http://www.tayside.police.uk/PressReleases/tayside-police-auction-sale-150512.htmIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

The one in Leeds was shut down by the police for accidental mentioning west yorkshire police as opposed to "police auction"
the police confirmed that none of the items sold had anything to do with them .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
