So I went to the cashpoint a few days ago to withdraw £40. The cash point malfunctioned and my money never came out but my account was debited!!! I called the bank immediately and they raised it as a dispute.
I recieved a letter today telling me that they have refunded the money in the interim whilst they investigate but will debit it again if they find that I did actually receive it!!!!!! I know that they have to check as not eveyone is honest BUT I feel really P*****d off with this as I have been with them for nearly 20 years and pay in all of my wages etc etc o so why would I suddenly decide to con them out of £40!!! I am confident it will be resolved but it has made me really mad, especially when I am trying so hard to get on top of my finances.
Rant over....
and breathe....
Thank you.

Hello!
This happened to me a few years ago- I was using a cash machine- everything looked normal- when suddenly -the only way I can describe it is- the screen turned into like a computer screen and it rebooted itself like a computer would- it didn't give me my money either...
This is what my bank told me- when they next go to top up the cash machine- they always check the balance of the machine- obviously as you didn't receive your £40 the machine will be £40 up -and this will be returned back to you. But you just have to wait for the machine to be topped up again- not all machines are topped up every day, and then for it to go through the system, etc...

^^^This is exactly right - the machines have a very detailed journal listing that will record what happens so they will be able to tell when the machine malfunctioned and if it was your card that was used at the time it all went wrong.
And of course the machine will also be £40 over too. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey
