HSBC/Countrywide - exchange to completion time

Options
Posted this on the main HSBC/Countrywide thread but if anyone on here can advise:

I am stuck in a chain and need to complete on Friday. HSBC is my mortgage provider and CW are representing them. Christ I wish I hadn't made this choice.....anyway.

The thing is contracts have not been exchanged yet but hopefully should tomorrow.

Does anyone have experience of contracts being exchanged and completion going ahead 2 days later with the dreaded HSBC/CW combination involved?

My solicitor told me they needed 5 working days a couple of months ago but trying to get hold of her this week is impossible. The best I have had is a message relayed to me this afternoon that she is awaiting confirmation from CW that contracts can now be exchanged.

I am sick with worry and feel like blowing my brains out

Only joking about the last bit before any refers me to the Samaritans!

I hate it when your own instructed solicitor does not come back to you.

CW has been known for delays. If you have a contact name you should give them a call and try to find out if everything is okay. If you cannot get hold of the main contact, I would suggest that you try to get in touch with the manager and tell them about the urgency.
  • Hi,

I am in the process of selling my property to a buyer who is purchasing with a HSBC mortgage. Both my buyer and his solicitor have been chasing HSBC with little success as they have been 'reviewing' the conveyancing documents for over two weeks now. We havent heard a word since the documents were sent over.

Do you have any advice on how much longer this might take and if there is anybody I can speak to at HSBC to get an update?

I appreciate it should be my buyer and his solicitor doing the chasing but I am getting very anxious and would like to speak to someone myself!

Thanks in advance for any advice,

    JT

This could be the required notification to draw down the funds for completion by your solicitor from the HSBC.

Oh right. Perhaps I mis-understood what she said.

So HBSC would agree for her to draw down the funds before contracts have been exchanged or approved by their solicitors?

Still not exchanged and still no proper communication from her apart from a message via the EA that her firm chased CW yesterday......
