Help, in a huge mess

Hi
I really don't know where to start! I got myself into debt starting when I was uni, I got married moved abroad with my husband and never really had my own money. Anyway I now have 16000 pound worth of debt, husband took an 8000 pound loan out for me last year, but I didn't tell him the full amount so using credit to pay credit and ran up more. He found out again and kicked me out, had to go back to my mum's, there's no chance of a reconciliation according to him (which I get, completely I've messed up numerous times). Anyway where my mjm lives is another town 4 hrs away from my job so am going to lose that so will have no job or income very shortly and I'm also pregnant. What a great Mum I'm going to be, bringing a child into this mess. I don't know what I was thinking or why I am so messed up and have no idea what to do.

We've all messed up (often more than once) but we learn from the mistakes & move on.

I'm sure you'll be a fab Mum and you'll get back on your feet.

    Hi

Well done for posting and try not to panic - there is alway a solution to any problem.
Don't beat yourself up about how you got in this situation and decisions you made years ago at uni - none of these things that have happened affect whether you will be a good mum or not.

Did you and husband own a house? and if so are you still a part owner in that?
I think you really need to speak to one of the debt advice charities.

I would guess its likely you might to struggle to find work before you have the baby and then will be on a low income on maternity leave for a while - given this it might be worth you considering bankruptcy in your position. It might seem a scary option but it might give you and your child the best option for starting again.
