Need to make £50 in less than 72hours!?!?

Soo we've stupidly run out of money this week...however need £50 odd for travel to a job interview and food.

Don't really have any friends/family I can ask.

Only thing worth any real money is my mobile, other than that I have some odd CDs, DVDs and books I can sell..

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

£50 is a lot considering JSA is only £56.25 a week and that keeps an under 25 y.o fed. You could stay in for the next week until your next JSA payment comes in. Any money you make would have to be declared to the jobcentre and would come off your next JSA payment anyway. I would say you need your mobile to be able to be contacted by potential employers so I'd keep that. CD's and DVD's are worth pennies and if you go to town to pawn them what would the bus fare cost and if you are in town will you stop by a shop and spend the few pounds you get?
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

So if you are working and earning and you presumably knew about the job interview coming up, why on earth have you not budgeted for it.

I have to admit, like HMJ, i presumed (wrongly) that you were out of work (interview for a job) and on jobseekers allowance.
Do you not have a credit card
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Interview was offered at last min, didn't wanna turn it down. A company had a delay in taking out a direct debit and didn't warn me they were going to take it this week, hence the lack of money...

    No credit card.

I didn't come here for judgements.

  • Can you not ask for the direct debit to be recalled, try phoning your bank and see if they can pull it back? I don't know if this will cause you more problems later on but could be a quick fix.

Do you have anything you can take to the pawn shop. Or sell on one of facebooks for sale pages. I was in a similar position a few months ago where I needed to get £80 in a couple of days and have no one I could have borrowed off. Managed to flog some clothes, dvds , shoes and handbags on my local for sale or swap site and managed to make the money I needed. Good luck, hope you get it sorted x

OP How far are you travelling to the job interview? Could this not be defered until next week?

In terms of food have you got anything in at all? If you have, post what youve got, there are some weird and wonderful concoctions we have had over the years when in a tight spot :)
