To be honest you're pretty annoying already
if you've got nothing helpful to say then how about you get over yourself and jog on troll
:rotfl:
the last thing i would want to do is upset this person i am by no means perfect, but the other 30 people in the office complain about it as well, i'm not the only one!!
It's just we deal with important documents and obviously we have to be on the ball and it is distracting theres no 2 ways about it, I think it's either a nervous cough only because when hes address clients and managers it gets a lot worse. I feel for him
I'm not a big ol' meany I was literally 'asking'
definitely going to ask about the mp3 player idea thank you

It could be medical condition that the person has no control over. I am quite saddened to read that someone actually counted how many times this person cleared their throat.
Try some tolerance and resist the urge to build up a vendetta against this person (ie counting the number of times...) as this could be classed as bullying and nothing good will come of that.
Oh my goodness!!! do people not read posts properly??!!! How DARE you insinuate that I'm building a vendetta and I am bullying him!!!!! He is a lovely genuine guy which is why I didn't really know what to do we have all moved into one big office after years of being in seperate areas perhaps this is why I notice it. As i said I am not the only one!! The reason it was counted (funnily enough not by me) was trying to understand if it really was excessive or if in fact we were just picking up on it more then usual.
Get you facts right, I have NEVER EVER been a bully.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

However if it was someone at work I wouldn't. You need to get over it. Unlikely the person would be able to change their habit and humiliating to have someone be petty enough to go to HR about it.
Counting the coughs? Suggests the person who counted has way too much time on their handsmynameisclare wrote: »Agree you need to get over it, but if it annoys you that much can you take in an MP3 player and listen to something else?
Do yourselves a favour guys if you've got nothing helpful to offer why waste your time?? Was only asking for advice not a character assasination.0 -
A cough it could actually just be a treatable allergy, just like my son has; i'm not sure why people have jumped to the conclusion that it's some terminal illness!
I would speak to your supervisor informally about it, and leave them to take any appropriate measures."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

Ahem, cough cough...
Not sure what I said was a character assassination?
You came on here for opinions and you have the right to ignore, but really? Above is a bit dramatic really..."0 -
Well unfortunately I am one of those annoying colleagues

I have a condition called post-nasal drip (sounds lovely doesn't it!) where my body produces too much mucus (again, sorry!), in my case this is due to having a deviated septum which I was born with.
I don't cough quite as often as your colleague!! but do have to clear my throat quite often. I'm very aware that this is probably annoying to my own colleagues and have explained the situation but it still makes me feel really bad when I'm having a difficult day with it and need to clear my throat regularly.
Your colleague is probably all too aware of it and whilst I can completely understand how annoying it is for you, I'm not sure that approaching him would resolve the situation. In my situation I've been offered an operation to fix it but don't fancy the horrendous pain afterwards and a stay in our lovely(!) local hospital with one of the worst ENT surgeons in the country (he operated on my OH and was terrible)...0 -
I wonder if your colleague was an army major in a former life?? Cough cough
