    Depends entirely on how big the family is, doesn't it? For instance, it certainly is NOT big enough for the parents and four children.......
    Not to mention that the OP might actually have a personal preference about the size / make of car suitable for their intended use regardless of YOUR opinion that an Astra is suitable. And why is having four children "unreasonable" ?? (You state the Astra is big enough for a "reasonable" size family - its a five seater. So having more than 3 children is "unreasonable", as is having a car bigger than an Astra?

    If it's well battered then you'll probably end up owing more in a VT than you think.
