'Diary of surprises' xmas gift for Hubby - help!

hi all,

so for my DH this xmas id like to present a diary to him which has 'surprises' scattered throughout (maybe one of two a month).

Im trying to think of things/vouchers i can put in on certain days but can only think of things that will cost a lot collctively.

so far i have for the whole year (each is a separate date):
3 x - £5 in an envelope 'im buying you lunch today!'
2 x - 2 cinema tickets - will get two pretend ones but buy them on the night.
possibly a trip to the zoo for me him and our baby.
2-3 x - meal out (will find a voucher nearer the time) to the value of £20?
2 train tickets to london for a day out.
beer money on a couple of weekends so its like im buying him a drink?

Any ideas or any free/cheap ideas i can use? i dont seem to have a lot for a whole year. i was hoping to do a couple a month! i suppose my budget is about £100 plus open to a couple of spends during the year totalling about £50-£100 as they are like days out but me paying instead of him. IYSWIM

thanks in advance!

Thats a lovely idea - but can see how it can become costly if your not careful.

What about having one night as a cosy night in - if you can get a babysitter, make a romantic meal - wont cost too much.

    picnic in the park :-)

Check local farms a lot of which are free or just donation could be a good day out with bubs.

In the winter have a cold day in - hot chocolate sachets, sitting by the fire etc.

Let him have a couple of lie ins - im sure my hubby would love that!

swimming? a lot of pools have cheaper seasons.

some naughty nights lol - massage perhaps

sure i can thinkof more, will come back if i can

How about a movie marathon night but his choice of films? Or a weekend with complete control of the remote?
  • How about:

    A massage from you
    A home cooked romantic meal
A day off from house work
A car wash (either paid for or from you)
A photo session for the three of you? (Often company's will do a photo shoot wth one photograph for free, in the hopes that you will buy more photographs)
Pick your own fruit and veg farms are often reasonably priced days out.
A gym session e.g. kickboxing if that's his scene?
Does he have any hobbies? If so you could give him a hobbie weekend

Control of the TV remote for a weekend :p I like that!
Also with regard to the days out you can often get 2 for 1 days out online or with train tickets for it's worth looking into before hand.

Hope that helps a little x

That's such a great idea - I might 'pinch' it and do it for my mum!!!

You can often pick up beauty/ health/ fitness stuff on groupon - I will keep a close eye on there towards the end of the year. Pay attention to expiration dates!

    Hope you don't mind:D

got a diary off eb@y for £2.09 (inc p&P) and 30 mini handmade mulberry paper envelopes with little lipstick kissies on them that come with a little notecard too :D so i can scatter them throughout and put his little messages in and a couple of fivers beer money here and there!

Ive checked his football teams fixtures aswell so i can 'let him go to the pub' with the boys to watch the footie (i know hes quite excited about this since they got promoted to the premier league)

I will probably just scatter the odd 'love note' here and there too as they are free and will bring a smile to his face :)
