Downward spiral

Hi,

Not looking back on the past too much hopefully but have had a rubbish few years:(. Had a really good job until end of 2003, but having been depressed for a number of years was made redundant. Suffered a breakdown in 2004 and although much better now, things seem to keep happening to stop me getting back to normal: friend died in my arms, 6yr old nephew died, made homeless, problems with benefits because of change of address, etc., etc., but because of all of the above bury my head in the sand re financial issues and found myself in a bad position last weekend. Because of being over my overdraft my bank would not let my draw any cash and had to borrow money for food..

Am now in touch with local job centre and they are trying to help but am desperate to know what I am entitled to. My benefits were mucked up a few months ago due to a letter being sent to a wrong address a few months ago. This has resulted in a reduction of £50+ per two weeks in my benefits. I am really stressed by this whole situation and would be grateful for any comments. Many thanks.

Have you tried the entitled to calculator to double check your benefits?

The Citizen's Advice Bureau is really helpful in your circumstances. The Samaritans are also good if you just want to vent your feelings/frustrations.
