Odd phone call

Just had a phone call from (it sounded like) Norton Accord 01772 806586. They had my first initial and surname, and said that they've been told that the Council of Lenders that up to 1 in 5 mortgages have been mis-sold, and that they're calling people who have taken out mortgages in the last 7 years to check whether they're owed compensation for mis-selling through brokers.
Essentially, they appear to be seeking to identify people who might have been suitable for a mortgage from a high street lender but were "wrongly" sold one from a non-high street lender at higher costs / % etc.
When I said that I had bought mine from NWide that was the end of the call as I didn't fit their criteria.
Just thought I'd flag up that these calls are going on.

*Apologies, this site is not letting me post links to websites, so written out in full below. " dot " = "."
1. Register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)
www dot tpsonline.org.uk
2. Register a complaint about this company with the TPS.
The company calling is Norton Accord
www dot nortonaccord dot com
They are calling on behalf of Ashton Fox Solicitors www dot ashtonfoxsolicitors dot co dot uk
Both companies have contact forms on their websites.
3. Submit requests to cease & desist via both companies' websites, eg:
"I keep receiving calls from your telemarketing number 01772806586.
I am registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) and have previously asked you to stop calling.
PLEASE CEASE AND DESIST THESE UNSOLICITED MARKETING CALLS."
4. If they continue to call, complain again to TPS, noting the date(s) that you sent them a written request to cease and desist.
TPS website notes "It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make ((unsolicited marketing calls)) to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so."
By submitting a webform, you are providing a legal audit trail, as your requests will be stored on the companies servers.
Good luck and here's to no more unwanted calls0 -
Thanks for the post.
I am with the TPS and have been for years. Just wish I'd thought of that when they called me out of the blue!0
