Just had bad experience with wentworth direct. They offered me a loan but said that they wouldn't send the contract out till I paid broker fee of 70 pounds!!! I looked onto the website where I read posts of people who got scammed and when I rang them to turn down the loan it was met by hostility by the woman who said it's nothing to do with them anymore and my details have been passed on and I now have to ring head office. She was very rude and when I asked to speak to someone higher than her she put the phone down. Beware.
If so, keep an eye on your account...0 -
Hi there
I was in the same situation as you. I hunted everywhere to try and get a loan but all I came across where scam artists and payday loan companies I'm afraid.
The only loans "genuine" (and I use the term very loosely) available will be guarantor loans which are at an astronomical rate and are probably only going to get you about 5k max.
Beware there are a lot of companies that will call you and promise you fantastic rates and exactly what you are looking for if:-
You give them your long card details so they can confirm its you (umm nope)
You pay them £50/70/100/150 administration fee (nope)
You call them back on 090 or another premium rate number (nah)
Its rubbish I know how you are feeling and I'm so sorry I can't help but your phone is probably going to be bombarded with txts and your email will go through the roof.
Take a breath, have a look at what you owe and call your local CAB.

Hello folks,
I have awful credit. Many different reasons have created the mess I am in but that is for another post.
I want to get a loan for around 10k to clear my awful pay day loans and other problems.
I earn good money now but the arrears etc are deep.
Now before anyone says 'you might use your cards again etc' take this as read, NO WAY!
I just want one monthly payment, around 4 year payment term and once it is paid to NEVER look at credit again.
Any suggestions?
I'm the same as you and the best solution for me is bankruptcy. I can't get a loan anywhere and I think it would just be digging myself a deeper hole. I spoke to the CAB who put me in touch with a brilliant advisor who went through all of my options and even though I am scared stiff I know this is the best option.

You shouldn't be scared one of mates went BR for 12k or 13k and he's actually in a better position then he has been in for ages, all he was doing was paying the interest.0 -

Thanks Bugsy. I think this could be something the OP should consider as at least in a year you can rebuild.

I used a gaurantor loan a few years back, my MUm was the gaurantor.
Was about 49% apr, but I ended up clearin it early and only paid back about £400 on a £2000 loan.
Much cheaper than a payday loan and future mortgage lenders aren't going to reject me just for having payday on my credit file. From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.
Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!0 -
I would recommend maybe thinking about a DMP instead. Contact CCCS (Debt Charity) and see if they can help. I am with them and have never looked back. In one year I will be debt free!Car loan £8105.35 57/60 payments left of £141.80 per month
Loan £6687.23 55/58 payments left of £165 per month
Nationwide £1183 (0% interest until 02/2026)
Total debt £15975.480 -
You need to look at your spending habits if you earn good money but have scratty payday loans and other tat.
