Probably - I used to play with the 'panshon set' (companion set) whilst mum did the thing with the ash pan and relaid the newspaper and sticks. We had many a near blaze when the newspaper over the fireguard 'drawing' the fire to burn well set alight. I suppose I am lucky to have survived childhood ...
