Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

They have not divorced,
This needs sorting out. What's he going to try to claim from her as her financial position now sounds much healthier than hers?
If she hasn't written a will leaving anything she has to her children (or elsewhere) and dies, he would inherit from her.
If she doesn't have an ongoing claim with the CSA, she needs to restart one so that he has to pay her CM for the children still at home.0
