annuity advice

I have set hargreaves and lansdown off trying to find me the best annuity to buy with my personnel pension, not sure if i should also get another company to do the same in parallel, say the annuity bureua, or just leave it with H & L.

Posts on here have found that local IFAs have beaten annuity bureau. I dont think anyone has used HL and posted here before on annuities. One assumes, that you are not using HL for execution only but advice so you may find their terms are not as good as a smaller local IFA. (smaller IFAs often club together and join networks and the combined buying power gets them better terms than firms like Cavendish and possibly HL).

You could also check the FSA's tables.

FSA tables are notoriously unreliable (as are any "printed" tables). They do not take into account negotiated rates and make too many assumptions. Plus the data can be many months out of date with some providers.

You should never make your choice of annuity provider based on the FSA tables.
