Restaurant suggestions for Coventry / Warwick

OK, so here's the problem: going out for meals with FIL is getting tricky, because he is extremely forgetful and confused, and if the food isn't quite to his liking or isn't hot enough or there's too much of it, then he won't eat it. And he's diabetic, so skipping a meal isn't really an option. And if it's too noisy he gets overwhelmed as well.

Next weekend we're all going to be staying in the Coventry / Warwick area, there's a couple of birthdays and a graduation to celebrate, so I'm hoping to find somewhere we can get a meal, preferably Sunday lunchtime.

I've wondered about a carvery, where he could serve himself.

And I know there's some Chinese 'all you can eat' places, which might work, which I shall have to consult MIL about.

But can anyone hand on heart recommend somewhere which isn't too noisy, and where the plates and food are always hot and not too 'stewed'?

My other 'thought' is a picnic, but obviously that needs to be somewhere with a covered picnic area if the weather hasn't improved ...

Very grateful for any help!

OK, to maybe widen the options ...

Somewhere where they bring dishes of veg to dish out at the table? But as above, needs to be quiet (as in no loud muzak! and the option of not sitting too near a noisy coffee machine!) and the veg need to arrive piping hot!

Has anyone used the Heron restaurant in Coombe Country Park or had Sunday lunch at the Coombe Abbey Hotel which is within the grounds?

Well, I'll let you know after the weekend! Weather forecast is good for Sunday, so we'll try the Coombe Country Park. Spoke to a chap in the Heron Restaurant today, and he sounded lovely, said the restaurant is quite large, and he'll make sure they put some extra hot food on. Fairly basic, but should suit us, especially if I have a quiet word and ask for a very hot plate for FIL ...

We may do afternoon tea at the Coombe Abbey Hotel, who also sounded very friendly but were a bit  price wise!

Should anyone be interested, I'm pleased to report that the Heron restaurant in Coombe Country Park was absolutely perfect. The park itself was great too. A Good Day Was Had By All, even FIL ... although he didn't eat anything at lunchtime because he'd had such a big breakfast at the hotel, but we got a sandwich for him later!

Very friendly staff, quite a few interesting things to do, and the cleanest loos I have ever seen in a park!

Coombe Abbey country park is lovely especially if good weather. We didn`t think much of the cafe( opposite the gift shop)..too much like a canteen

Yes, it was a bit canteen like, but suited us for what we wanted.
