Credit file clean up begins
boodebt
Well I'm 3 months past discharge now so have started the credit file clean up.
Sent letters this morning via recorder delivery following the instructions on the clean up thread.
There are around 11 accounts showing as defaulted an with the wrong dates so I'll give it 6 weeks from today then check credit files again to see the progress.
Cost £17.95 in postage.
It's the accounts that have been transferred to a collection agency that I think will be the hardest to sort out, Moorgate & TTISPC I think are the 2....
Question... Once these defaulted accounts are marked as satisfied or settled do they drop into the closed accounts section of the credit reports?
If so apart from the obvious bankruptcy showing on the files the open account should look ok, Car HP still has 36 months to run and all up to date, 2 mobile accounts running all ok and a current account always in the green.
Once the Car HP is paid in 36 months time will in then take 6 years from the finish date to drop off credit files?
If this is the case once bankruptcy and defaulted files drop off this would be showing for a further 3 years as this would look great on the file?
Anyone know if this is the case?
Cheers I'll keep thread updated with clean up results.

If your report has such a section, then yes.
Splitting accounts into closed/open section in a report is just a way of making report data easier to understand. i.e. a matter of presentation rather than material substance.
What matters is that the debt says settled/satisfied in some way. That is all.Once the Car HP is paid in 36 months time will in then take 6 years from the finish date to drop off credit files?
Assuming it's never been defaulted, then yes, that is correct.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So am I right in thinking I'll have a clean file with no defaulted accounts but that I had a HP agreement that was completed? Assuming I don't default on it...
Would this help for the future?
Clean file no bankruptcy but with payment history ie the settled HP agreement?0 -
Just to update, the incorrect files that are first to be corrected are the ones I thought would be a mission!
Received letters apologising for the incorrect info and that it would be done ASAP.
I do however have a problem with the big 3!
The letters I sent to Barclays, HSBC & Lloyds havent arrived. Just says on royal mail tracker that they are being processed through the network. I posted on 7th so thought they would be there now surely they can't all be lost?!?! I did wonder if they had a huge postal dept and stuff got signed as and when... Any ideas?
Pretty sure I got the addresses right... Advice appreciated!0 -

problem is it can go from one extreme to the other...nobody will touch with bankruptcy then once everythings sorted & fell off lenders will be twitchy of someone with no credit history as well!Friends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies.
