Thanks Dun, yes they were all included in the estimate I was given.
Getting quite excited now, keep your fingers crossed for me, going into clearing this week
Best of luck!
If its right for you you'll love it, I'm three weeks away from finishing my 1st year (the other students all finished back in May!) and I've never been happier. Its been hard work and money's been very tight but its absolutely definitely worth it.
(Which uni are you applying to? If you want any interview tips drop me a PM, if they interview for clearing.)0 -
Ooh yes any interview tips gratefully received didnt know they interviewed for clearing!
I have good grades I think ABC at A level and BB at AS Level, plus 10 years experience as a care assistant, which I am hoping will be a plus for me.
I am applying for Manchester, Salford(either of these top of list) also Manchester Met to cover all bases. I cant really consider others because of the travel/children and placements.
Do you think I have a good chance?0 -

Hi, Good luck with your application for nursing, I cant advised you much, but I'm just entering my 3rd year at uni doing nursing.
You are entitled to:
Bursary as shown on the calc.
Student loan of £2400 ish per year.
if you don't work basic child tax credit/ child benefit.
I have to admit though the course is very full time, not only do you have 6 essays per year (although the new degree is a lot less work, but do not know enough about it) you also have workbooks, pdp's, skills clusters, exposures to other branches etc.... they all take up so much time that working on top is hit and miss.
Also when you are on placement full time, unless you are an insomniac you will struggle working. Placements on the new degree are just 20 weeks per year I think a lot less than old degree, so may be easier to work around.
I do part time flexible work, so when on holiday or reading weeks I end up working 50 hours per week when possible to cover my debts I have gathered.
It is hard, but you can work it out the main thing I think is it is just 3 years .... not forever and I have learnt to appreciate the small things (and free things) in life ;-).
Good luck hope you get on the course.Mort July 2008 £65000..Mortgage July 2010 £63848
Mortgage June 2012 £54500:T chip chipping away.0 -

Aah yes but youve only seen the a levels, if I listed my various mishaps over the years I think you would have a rethink lol
Thanks for all the advice, I have an interview on wednesday which is very exciting!!
The student loan bit, where do I apply for that? It would come in handy for travel/books and uniforms so will definitely look into it, thank you.
Since applying I feel so old! When we finished our a levels we were basically coached on university interviews/personal statements/finance etc and it seems all of that has conveniently dropped out of my head in the past ten years. I don't remember feeling this nervous when I had an interview 10 plus years ago!0
