Yip I agree pah time to stop being a wally and just get on with it. I made the pie and a pasty with the left overs for my lunch tomorrow.
The yellow material has arrived so I've those yellow leggings and t-shirt to make for my youngest DD's performance. I'm going to make them long sleeves (whether nursery like it or not) so she can use them as PJ's afterwardsAlso DD is in yellow group and needs a yellow t-shirt for PE in junior school so instead of paying £7 for their t-shirt, i'll make my own
See, i'm alright. It was just a blip0 -

 fuming at the thought of you being called a battlaxe. Assuming the "friend" was too ignorant to know what that actually meant.
I've taken a right scunner to the friend. You are a good wife and mother and a good person so stuff the lot of them.
Mardatha- desperate to know the name of the book. Is it a Sherrilynn Kenyon? Keri Arthur? I have a book by a new author on its way that started on kindle and is now in printed version and can't wait for it to arrive.
Made individual chicken, onion, mushroom and sweetcorn pies for dds and beef with onion and carrots with puff pastry lids on them. Just about to make mashed potatoes to go with it for later.
Pouring with rain again and DH painting the inside of potting shed with leftover blue woodstain/paint so he is happy. Would love even a few days of good weather. Never thought we would be wanting meat pies and mash in July!

Right caught up smilet and K ( sorry name gone) good luck with the interviews tomorrow - no doubt I will be on later when come back but am hoping to pop a pill and get to sleep handy so can do our day out tomorrow......You both will do fantastic, I know its as you both are such fantastic people - if you get the chance pop in how OS you are, should impress them no end to know how you have lots of ways at your fingertips to save money and cut costs, now what firm wouldn't want someone like that on their staff in this day and age ( even the banks, as less they spend more bonus the big cheese gets).
I am getting panicky not for going out but for not doing as I wanted and getting some more stocks in - am thinking might get hubby to take me out soon and as we have to go to Mr S to get money out of cash machine I could pop in and get some long life milk, cheese ( edam is on offer at moment, slices are cheaper by far than a block, I cannot eat chedder) and some more tinned veg. We have enough milk to last say a week between what is in the freezer and long life but no-where near enough, and dried is almost gone as I use it in bread making, but then if I spend it on stocks will not have enough for lunch out and I know we both could do with a bit of couple time and his wages this month will only cover the DDs nothing else really.....daft getting twitchy as not gone shopping for stocks, its just I think of the children as they do not believe in stocking up so I know I must have enough for them never mind us.
Decisions, decisions.............
I know I am acting as if shops are going to close tomorrow and not open for ages, daft........
Oh well think will get dress on, should I put some warpaint on mmmmmm only ever do when going out and I usually manage these days to get mascara all over my eyes and face......
Might just get a few bits one of each even to quiet my racing heart........and then go and shop more tomorrow evening...........
Kidcat, am so pleased about sons behaviour, just shows if teacher is willing to bend to the child how a child can blossom...........
Sorry all names gone now, but sending lots of love and hugs to all whose incomes are going to go down, my heart goes out to each of you.
We don't of course get HB so bedroom tax will not affect us, unless hubbys job does go, but I know HA do want to move couples out of three bed homes, but am hoping as we have been here now 20 years and I have had adaptions by them and council over the years, made to help me we will be able to stay.
Where they would put us I do not know, sheltered accommodation I suspect we have some not far away run by HA and there is a big sign up saying they have some flats available, but no pets and of course no personal garden, although it is surrounded by lovely grounds but I would hate that I like my privacy. We are one of the very few HA houses left round here now, last time i saw a number it was 144 properties ( including 100 sheltered and 40 one bed flats - they look just like houses with front garden belonging to downstairs flat and back to upstairs) in our area. The other 4 are our house and one other 3 bed house and two bed flats.....all others have now been bought......no way will I move out of this area if I have to live in this city this is the only place I want to be as I adore the village ( even though its part of the city now its still offically classed as a large village and has won the loveliest large village in England competition quite a few times in last 10 years - next juding is tomorrow and the volunteers have done some fantastic displays of flowers - in fact will upload a photo I took yesterday of the crown

Ooops........I put a post on facebook about Shades of Grey and now wish I had stuck to ones about cake and being pee'd off with DH and the monsters. Oh well, it will soon go down the page and be forgotten about.
GQ I hope you have broken the back of the paperwork. I have a few piles building that need filing, but I hate doing it.
PAH you don't have to justify how you spend YOUR money to anyone. Have a wonderful time, you deserve it
fuddle Now I'm rapidly heading downhill to 40, I'd take being called a battleaxe as a compliment. I've been called much, much worse. A battleaxe is at least powerful and confident if nothing else (((((((hug)))))))
Popperwell I lost my darling Dad when I was 11 and still miss him. It's a normal human reaction to miss someone that you have loved. Never feel guilty about it. P.S The song that gets to me is "The Living Years" by Mike and Mechanics. I blub like a baby everytime I hear it.
I got DH to drop me off at the shopping centre earlier, which meant I got half a piece of toast before I had to head out of the door. I have to admit that I went and brought a pasty from Greggs for lunch. I'm justifying it as I carried two bags of shopping and books home, including 8 lbs of potatoes.
The gammon is simmering away for dinner and that has made DS2 happy. For his birthday this year he had bacon in every meal and his idea of heaven is various cured pork products in large quantities.
I should be reading "We need to talk about Kevin" for book group on Thursday, but I'm finding it hard going and aren't sure I'm going to get there in time anyway. Jasper Fforde on Thursday!! :T I admit it, I'm a book groupie
It's got grey and dark here so it looks like we are in for yet more rain. What joy.......not.
Take care everyone and be well xxxxxx0 -
Coo! What are you lot like, I'm MIA for a few days, you've started a new thread, and hit 23 pages already!!!
Had horrible tooth issues again last week, it's lying low at the moment after the 3rd lot of anti-biotics - but coming out on Thursday :T At least he's telling me he'll TRY and take it out...bit worried about that TBH, I said to OH supposing he can only get it half out
Been mega busy with the market stall, and have a special market birthday cake to make for next week, as it's the market's 3rd birthday. I've had a trial run on a big 12" cake last week (a birthday order) so that's OK but I need to sort out the decorations over the week - going to make sugar paste 'produce' as sold in the market to decorate it...bit of fun for me!
I saw the link back here (smileyT?) about the Save Lennox campaign. I've been following that, and I cannot tell you how many tears I've shed over that poor dogThat could so easily be my Roxie, who is the daftest sweetest natured girl ever. Today was 'the day' does anyone have an update, I just sneaked over but there is no news yet.

Have you been reading Shades of Grey SDG I borrowed it from the library before all the hype and was so embarrased yesterday having to hand it back.. every body knowing only too well what I had been reading  I whispered to the friendly librarian that I had it and she told me when she was at work so I could hand it to her :rotfl: We had a glance and a smirk today when I picked up Hannah Hauxwell. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! :rotfl:0

:)Good Luck to those with Interviews this week.:)
GQ I think we are all hoarders of paperwork. Was talking to a friend today who was exercising her shredder....10 years of fuel bills and tv licences!:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Just picked up the Hannah Hauxwell book from the library. I don't know if I'm in the right frame of mind to read it tonight, but thinking on the other hand, maybe it will help bring my fighting spirit back.
It's supposed to be mince and onion pie tonight for tea. The mince, onion in gravy mix is bubbling in the SC but can I be bothered to turn it into a pie? Can I 'eck! Still gunna do it though, if I get that apron on and get cracking maybe I'll slip out of this mindset.
Oh, friend called me a right old battle axe when she saw my thrifty cook book, knitting book and asked what Hannah Hauxwell was. Not in the slightest bit bothered
HH it's a bleak story but she had a fighting spirit and the fame did bring her an easier life and she ended up in Cotherstone in 2008. The TV company made a series of documentaries where they took her abroad and she visited France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the USA.
A new book was published in 2008 bringing her story up to date...
Was your friend being serious or joking? I cannot see how those books make you a battleaxeHardup_Hester wrote: »My Mum played I will survive by Gloria Gaynor when she knew her cancer was terminal & they turned it into a Weetabix advert.
My Dad chose The Impossible Dream for his funeral & they turned that into the Honda advert, still he'd been a driving instructor, so it was fitting!

That says much about your Mum and her courage. It must have been difficult for all of you. I hope you have found some peace. Both my parents were taken with cancer but neither were ever told it was terminal.
We were with Dad on the last day when he was taken into hospital, they said with Mum we would probably get her home from the Nursing home because she did seem to be improving again...but they had said they could contain it and keep it localised. It was so slow. Age or other causes would probably take her. That's probably why it was a shock and sometimes it's harder to accept.
But I don't want to take anything away from your post, talking about me...
Many of us are worried about that bedroom tax PAH. My disadvantage is that I do receive HB. And even if I was working the income would be so low, I'd be claiming it so would still be affected. Time will tell...
Political bit...they've kept going on about the reforming of the House of Lords and yet they did try to stop a lot of the changes including the bedroom tax so are they as bad as they are painted?
Only in that they sometimes put a halt on some of the plans the Commons have in mind. The MP's don't like that, especially those in power at the minute...knowing they will lose, gthey've delayed the bill and withdrawn it for now...
