Hmmm, I'd wear footless tights with something over them like a tunic dress. And I'm pushing 50. I think it's a good look and I know several other women of my age who often wear the kinda combo I'm sporting today; wrap dress over leggings.
I wouldn't wear leggings without something almost knee-length over the top of them as the public needs to be protected from the sight of my wobbly bits. And this from a woman who spent the early 1980s in very racy mini kilts and brightly-coloured opaque tights (think scarlet or bright blue and you have the picture).
In my defense, I had fab legs back then and I was an art student, so had special dispensation to look a complete p r a t. There was one evening when I was ripping my sparse wardrobe apart looking for a black mini skirt (didn't own such a thing) so ended up saying oh burger it and went out in black opaque tights and a long white shirt. It was a good job my mother couldn't see me............:rotfl: A group of us girlies were walking down the street and a group of lads walking in the other direction had their eyes out on stalks. One of them said about me in awe would you look at the length of her legs !There are some advantages about being nearly 6 feet tall. Now if I could only lose 4/5 stones, exercise like a demon to have great muscle tone, cause the cellulite to vanish and get a spray tan on those pins............I still wouldn't wear mini-skirts.
Gotta leave some styles to the young girlies. A pal who was in her late thirties at the time I was about 10 years younger was grumbling about finding something to wear for a night out. Not wanting to look like mutton dressed as lamb but not wanting to look like a total frump either. It's a poser, that's for sure. I mostly resolve it by not going out, but then I am a lazy moo.
Righty, still haven't caught up with the back catalogue so off into the past few days. Laters, GQ x
ETA I've caught up! Just on this thread, need to check out the Storecupbboard, the Hoarders and this new Prepping thing. And, naughty naughty VJsmum, I am extremely jealous of your runner beans! I feel that I shall have to murther some more slugs this weekend.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

So much to catch up on especially when its piecemeal as it is for me today.
Congrats to anyone with exam results and JSA news too.
We have had a really manic day as had DS14 at doctor to book tests, followed by DD17 at college for results, all the while the electrician was here working away:j:j
Overall it was good though, DD got three Bs (As level) which means she can sit the big A-levels next year and puts her on target for her teaching degree:j:j
DS has been booked into hospital for tests, they dont believe there is anything wrong with him, they simply want to rule everything out if that makes sense.
Electrician was amazing, he has fitted new lights in DS14 room which mean DS8 cant get to them, and they look so much better. He has sorted all DD17 electrics out so now I can get back to re-organising her room. And he fixed the outdoor security light too, answered the questions about what some switches are too.
Then we went out for dinner, travelled a bit to a restaurant that was one price ( you pay when you arrive) then eat whatever you like, all buffet style so kids can pick and choose. Ideal for kids like mine. We took my parents too and I spent less than £60 for a meal for 8, which is exceptional value for a meal out these days.
Memory foam my mum and dad had, my dad couldnt stand it, he has bad hips etc and found he couldnt turn, mum was too hot and they both got rid asap.
We have a really cheap BM and like many I dislike the hole at the bottom, I have taken to using it to mix the dough and then baking in the oven which defeats the object I am sure. I also dislike the shape, mine comes out tall and narrow which annoys me.0 -
That sounds like a lovely combo to me PAH.
I am fast heading towards mid 30's (in fact if I'm honest, I'm already there!) and I do still possess, and wear a couple of shorter skirts - mid thigh though so considerably longer than those of my youth when my mother used to make me promise not to play pool!!! I always follow the cardinal rule of either cleavage or legs - never both! and I do always wear them with opaque tights.0 -
I live in leggings/ tights and skirts/ tunics. So comfortable and flattering.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
A top tip I just stumbled upon. Slit down the middle of empty toilet roll inners. Put over rolls of wrapping paper to stop it unravelling or creasing.
g'night

Sorry, couldn't resist. In fairness I have burger all else to boast about. Did get a few spuds the other day. May have an odd tomato or two. My sweetcorn, onions and peppers have come to nothing and i have one very bizarre looking cucumber.
Congrats on all the exam results, God daughter got 4 A's at AS level - she is clever but is also incredibly driven. Friends daughter is devastated as she didn't get what she wanted. My DDs GCSE results are next thursday.
Have been incredibly busy - as I may have said previously we cashed in OHs pension early (for various reasons too long winded to say here) and therefore have a house which we are trying to let to students, but it isn't let yet so we are trying to make it desirable. It is now looking like somewhere I would want to live but we have been hard at it this week. It will cost us to have it empty and also we will get no income off it. Only a couple of more things to do, though they are quite pricey.
Have spent all week trying to get DS his new blazer as the school have changed their uniform - finally got to the shop today only to be told that they have run out and won't be ordering any. Oh but you can get them off the school website  grr if only I'd known that I would have ordered it several weeks ago.
And breathe....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I don't see them as a young thing, but a comfort thing and can actually slim a leg because of the tight fitting at the ankle... one rule though, always have your top/tunic/dress covering your bum - with leggings, and of course with footless tights :rotfl:
I prefer to have coverage to midthigh as well as bum cover . . . . I find mens cotton shirts with long shirt-tails are great with leggings for bimbling round the house and garden in summer . . . . and they can be picked up for a £1-2 at most CS:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

AArghghg! It's midnight and I have just hear a gunshot, which means they are lamping. I hate it - I am here on my own, and if the horses get frightened I could have a late night stampede on my hands ... sincerely hope they move off pronto.
Catto has happily confounded me today by being positively skittish. I let him go out when it was sunny - my greatest fear is of him doing that cat thing of slinking off to die in the wild. I would so hate that, but judging by today's performance we have a bit longer left than I thought. I appreciate every day. He also did that most annoying thing of walking over my laptop and pushing some unknown combination of keys which turn the whole screen upside down, and makes the mouse work sort of inside out, or possibly back to front. It happened once before and totally freaked me, but luckily I was able to sort it out more quickly this time.
The lampers have just been up and down the hedge near the house, but now seem to be going away. I hate them, I am on the side of the rabbits! Horses seem OK....0 -
I just heard about the drought in eastern europe where crops are down 50% Now that sent a churn to my stomach and I have just re-visited the stockcupboard thread. Growing my own veg, I do know that it will take many months to get into the new food cycle so stockcupboard building is a very serious and important matter. Not faffing about but serious building up of basics.
The little ice age that pc was telling us about is being hastened and please don`t expect just cold. It means very hot, burning temperatures alternating with very cold. I think many of us can cope better with cold than extreme heat and I for one don`t go out when it gets to 30+.
I think we should be concerned about how to keep our homes as cool as possible. I have blinds which I pull down before the sun comes near the windows and I don`t open any windows when the outside temperature is higher than inside and so on. I think that the preppers bit on the sh fan thread could be a lifesaver for many, you just have to ignore those that mock, they`ll be laughing on the other side of their faces0
