Oh kidcat I'd best steer clear of the home brew then
pops my mam made home brew when we were kids, I can't forget the browny bubbles on the surface like the east coast froth that comes up at the beach. Yak. lol
Ok, nervous about foraging so starting at the beginning and opting for dandelion
The kids want to go foraging so that will be safe and ideal. Going to collect the flowers and make dandelion fritters together and a cup of dandelion tea for me... watch, we won't be able to find any :rotfl:
There's some in the lawn but I fear the dog might have pittled on them. Great to see in print dandelion's nickname of pittly beds. :j0 -
Well done Popperwell!
I must have just been lucky with AF as I've never had anything break in transit. It always seems to be well wrapped and I end up with enough packaging for Ebaying after their delivery!
Perhaps I should have another look...
I was going to say that I haven't eaten yet but I did have some lettuce, tomato, egg sandwiches and also a Muller Rice Pot whilst messing about on the PC overnight and I had three slices of toast and marmalade this morning...
So this main meal will fill the void...
I am trying to cook two thighs, add half of the sachet of herbs and whatever it contains, so I can make another meal, half the water they suggest because its for one person, half the water, some stock from the chicken I cooked the other day, some onions and sliced mushrooms. It will either work or fail miserably, I'll add some veg and potatoes later. It's supposed to be chicken in red wine.
We haven't the choice on the supermarket shelf but where you can pay 80p-£2 for a sachet of herbs/mix and a roasting bag, one of the food manufacturer's have some tins of flavourings for £1.99 and you can measure out individual servings of up to 12 servings and that work's out cheaper so if I could find some of them, that would be great!"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. You may be better making wine?
Not too long ago I got into making cocktails...but since Mum became ill that kind of stopped and drink is not cheap. And if they introduce that levy and we know they will, I may have to frop even the small amount of booze I buy...I can go for months/years without touching it!
That could be a problem

hmm I know. I think the girls will like picking and making them. Whether they will get eaten remains to be seen.0

fuddle another idea for your girls... my mum used to give me and my sister a bucket of water and a paint brush each; we were asked to 'paint' the side of the garage, of course the sun dried it quickly so we painted again... and again... Would work on fences, patios, anything really :rotfl:*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Bonnie that reminds me of my aunt who used to send us out to polish the privets of we moaned of boredom
Have just completed an AF order, Spent just over the £40 to get free delivery, good thing I had waited as when I was trying to place an order yesterday the total was coming out at £35which included £7.50 delivery so by increasing what I would have paid by £5 I am receiving £12.50 worth of extra goods -0 -

Those are two inspired examples of child-wrangling. Respect to those ladies.
If I was ever moaning as a kid that I was bored, Mum would always tell me that only boring people got bored. Even as a nipper that worked. You can have big fun as a kid with large cardboard boxes and re-purposed washing up liquid bottles as water pistols.
One of my rellies had a largish garden which they used as a smallholding and they needed to keep the kids off most of it to protect the plants. Her OH built the boys a "fort" from old pallets etc down the bottom of the garden and they spent most of their time there. She also had a hosepipe set up outside to hose the worst of the muck off them before they carted it all indoors.........boys will be [STRIKE]little horrors[/STRIKE] boys.
Wendy houses or playsheds are a great way of getting kiddies out from under your feet. Would it be possible to knock-up something similar? Me and my cousins used to love playing house in Nan's wash house complete with the mysterious " copper" which was long-unused but very interesting........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My dad used to tell us only stupid people got bored:cool: Very harsh but I think he was trying to tell us to think what we could do rather than accept it if there was nothing obvious to do........
I'm off to my bed toughies, sleep well all xx*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
I found this awesome website thats got tonnes of child friendly things to do, I am going through and doing lots with Pip. He gets the 15 hours free nursery but its only term time and paying over £300  to keep him going over summer not really an option at the minute!
http://www.theimaginationtree.com/
I am taking him to the local surestart centre, they have a summer programme of activities and each is just £1 a session, we normally just got to stay and play but Ive got him booked in for messy play, active tots, a teddy bears party, a farm visit and also a meet the bugs session.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Sometimes GQ I wish I could thank your posts several times - definitely re the whole poll tax thing but also the 'only boring people get bored' - straight out of my own childhood! The best Christmas ever (sorry!!!!) was the on when my parents got a new washing machine - now that was a fine box, it lasted for weeks!
Elona - I can offer tuition too, the stiltwalker moniker is not just random, I was a professional juggler and stiltwalker in my mid teens til about 20 so anything from juggling balls/clubs/fire torches, devilstick, unicycle, stilts, bit of acro-balance, bit of static trapeze, bit of cord de lise, balloon modelling, face painting - take your pick!!!!
Had a nice evening at sewing club, I have drawn out my pattern for a messenger bag , done a bit more sewing on my current tote bag and helped out a couple of the kids. Now doing a bit more sewing on my bag and having a cheeky glass of rose.
DD has physio tomorrow morning, need to try and pin her down on what else the CDC will be providing in the way of OT and speech and lang therapy over the summer and into the new term.
Sammy Kaye - good to see you back, sorry to hear the circumstances. No advice but it seems some other folk on here have some good ideas but I am wishing you good luck.0
