Hi, Im thinking of making the change from oil to gas, with the help of a toasty homes grant. It would be with a prepay meter.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much money it is likely to cost me per week in eg. December and then at this time of year.

I live in a 3 bedroom
, end of terrace, house. (firmus supplying gas)

Many thanks.

I am with Pheonix gas so can only tell you how much I personally pay.

I too live in a 3 bedroom end terrace house.

During the really bad winter (was it in 2010?) I found myself having to put £40 to £50 per week into my pre payment meter just to keep my house toasty.

Thats a worst case scenario though because as I say that amount was only used during the really cold snowy spell.

In a normal winter I would use between £25 and £30.

In weather like this I find Im only having to put £15 in per week as it hasnt been that cold.

During the warmer summer months £10 per week does me and thats only because Im using the (gas) water heater a lot more.
The loopy one has gone :j

I'd be crying if I had to put £50/wk in! Hopefully that winter was a one off.

I also have Pheonix, but i use it just to heat the house and water, no cooker, tumble trier etc powered by gas. In the winter its about £50 a month, maybe extra £10 if its very cold. Im out at work most days.

I'm with EDF prepay and I put on about £20-£40 a month during the winter but then I don't use my central heating (that does eat the credit) I just use a calor gas fire in the front room & electric blanket or extra duvets on my bed.

The main cost for the gas is my 2 hour baths lol

I'm with Firmus energy & at the moment I'm putting in £5 a month,as the heating's off & so it's only used for hot water.I get about 13 units for that fiver, during the winter I was putting in about £35 a month, which is a fraction of what I putting in with E7.
I only had the living room & bedroom heater on & sometimes the one in the hall.I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment.

To be honest Im hoping £50 a month max will do it, its only for the heating and water and theres no-one in mostly during the day.

    Thanks for all the replies.
