help with 'money-saving' hamper

i know a few people who like to save money and thought of doing them an hamper for xmas to aid them in their quest.
but what could go in there?

so far i have thought of;
  • a terrimundi, (excuse the spelling)
  • budget book
  • selection of coupons sourced nearer the time
any other suggestions?

You could download any relevant guides from this site and pop them into a folder, or how about one of Martin's books?

What a nice idea :) How about adding a student or budgeting cookbook?

PixieDust - thanks for those - they are great ideas! I think I'm going to make a moneysaving hamper for a friend and definitely going to make a "Bag for Life". I just realised as well you could include some microfibre dusters, some bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar for cleaning and maybe a windowsill or kitchen side indoor compost bin.

How about a nice money box? I was given a ceramic one last year for Xmas and love it loads I'll be so upset when I have to break it but they can easily be replaced and you won't be tempted to open it before its full as you have to smash them.. Sorry if it's already been suggested I didn't look on the links but if not you can get them on eBay and I'm sure amazon or play would do something similar!!

  • How about a jar/book of motivational quotes or money saving challenges or tips?

Are they likely to grow their own veg? You could give them a few packets of seeds or a grow-your-own book.

A collection of craft instructions for gifts (Things like snowman soup etc) that you could tailor to their hobbies (e.g. sewing if that's something they are into). I did a knitting version for my mother last year that was just a collection of free online knitting patterns in a folder.

Maybe go through the freebie section on the forum and include any samples or coupons that you wouldn't use yourself?

A shopping list pad? (they say if you use a list and stick to it you spend less)

A sewing kit? For repairing clothes instead of replacing them.

Maybe some examples of cheaper items so they can try them? For example Asda do a 17p curry sauce which is really nice but i have heard people say that it must be awful because it is so cheap. So if you included it in the hamper you could prove otherwise?

I hope some of this is useful :)

Most already said, shopping list book, meal planning book, budget cookbook, recipie box.
A whiteboard weekly/monthly planner so they can meal plan and put down everyones activities so they know who is in for dinner.
tupperwear/lock and lock boxes for packed lunch or freezing leftovers.
A travel coffee mug if they buy coffee on way to work?
